Please Take this with a pinch of salt, i was browsing play.com earlier and stumbled across pre-orders for ffxiv (for the ps3) not only does it give a RRP along with it's discounted price which so far appears to be TBA as officially it claims the release date is 26/03/2010 (This is UK date format so thats 03/26/2010 America if i'm correct)

I haven't found any more site's even offering to pre-order it so I can't find out if they too have a release date,

My Source

I think they said FFXIV is gonna come out after FFXIII occidental release, and FFXIII comes out @ Spring 2010, so that date is not accurate.

Yea... They said they'll have a longer beta than XI but shorter than WoW so that puts it at 5-6 months long.

BETA THIS FALL!!!! J/K

I do hope FFXIII comes out before because if enveloped in FFXIV it'll be hard for me to break away for a month to beat FFXIII. >.>

I would imagine that beta would start a little after XIII release if not during same time. Perhaps includes an extra disc for the PS3 beta, or even as a pre-order bonus from some game store. You never kno now these days, I mean I got 360 Beta out of a magazine.

They said that they were gonna continue Xi support for a year, but not stop support which wording did confuse me. I think after this point is when they'll either decide to release XIV, or at least start the Beta.

I honestly don't expect a release date until Fall/Winter of 2010, or at least for an announced date when they do announce it, however like most games I wouldn't doubt if production got pushed back a couple months and we don't see it until Spring 2011. Tho I would like an earlier start date, but you do want little bugs as possible, even tho everyone knows that there will be bugs something like that is always inevitable.

Watch it to be out for Summer 2010.
I mean game has been in development for something like 5 years now, they can't be that far behind with it.
I'm expecting a beta around the start of next year (January/February) and a release for next Summer (around July).
Yes I'm very optimistic about this lol

BETA doesn't care when FFXIII is coming out, a beta isn't there for commercial purposes, it can easily be this fall (closed one of course) for 3 months, and then an open beta for 3 months, 4/5 months before FFXIV is gone gold.

We're talking about SE here, they've even gone as far as putting trailers to other games included with games before. And even for XI Beta for the 360 you had to buy a magazine to participate. Suppose the only way to Beta XIV is a bonus disc that comes with XIII, I'm sure there are those out there that will buy XIII just for this chance, and SE knows this so they do stuff like this. This is only talking about the PS3 version tho, PC users might have to sign up and get selected.

But you never kno, Sony can even go as far as adding Beta to PS-Network for download but we'll have to wait and see what they are gonna do. I'm not saying that they are gonna do this, but just remembering SE's past history I wouldn't doubt something like this.

Sorry if I sound like a pessimist on the issue, but I'm hopeing SE doesn't do the things I've guessed and just do what we want, lol. I'm wanting what you guys want, to be able to play XIV.

2010 is a special year world wide, it's the world cup! There is no way SE will release FFXIV during the world cup! Europeans love football, Japan loves football, and having to choose between watching England go out on penalties in the semi finals, or playing FFXIV, that'd be a really hard choice >.<

I think we're at a point where FF13 could end up holding back FF14
There's no way they could relase the 14th before the 13th in the EU

Without sounding like a whiney fanboy you can partially blame SCEE, that guy uhhh, well I forgot his name. But he's in charge of the cross seas stuff
He pretty much said, we will shun any game that comes to the EU without our strict 3 month localization process, if the game is not up to standards it will be sent back and must be checked and resubmitted. We're going to localization proerly, and it doesn't matter how long that may take. We will wait.

After I read this I think I pretty much instantly hated him ever since. He's an idiot and needs to fired from Sony ASAP. I'd rather play a game with the odd Mom or Color in it than wait half a year for its release.

Now I'm not denying microsoft has this same type of approval, but they seem to never cause any problems and make wait times less noticable.

I'm not entirely sure how worldwide releases work, but ****, do we appreciate them here in the EU.

He means that in the UK, it's spelled "Colour"

Not sure about the "Mom" comment. I suppose limeys always say "mother" or "ma."

@ditx

they don't have to release this game in the same month as FFXIII lol, it can easily be 6 months after (FFXIII dated for spring) and that's more than enough time.

Betas wouldnt hold back, only a few k people would play, and anyways an mmo has nothing to do with an offline game.

I could easily see SE releasing XIII with an install disc for the XIV beta and a registration code that'd either allow access or an eventual free month once things go live. Either way, end of March seems early for this, but then again, they have been at it for 4 years.

When games don't have release dates, vendors wishing to sell pre-orders have to make one up. You can't pre-order something without giving an estimated date.

So yeah, just ignore any dates you see from vendors until you hear it from S-E.

That's actually somewhat believable to me.

I could see SE issuing closed beta accounts to Premiere sites (with a few to give away) near the end of September/early October, with open beta signups through Gamespot in November.

I'm going to put my bets on Beta starting around the end of this year, start of next year like most people, then the game coming out some time next summer.

Summer is a great time to release a MMORPG, because a lot of people are home from school and college, and EVERYONE young and old are in the mood to buy and play video games during the Summer. It's a recreation season, and video games are a recreation activity. I've been in marketing my whole life, and while I'm not guaranteeing anything, I do think it's probably what they'll be shooting for.

My bet is that it will also come out about 2-3 months after FFXIII, right after people beat it and it starts settling down, but while they are still in the "Final Fantasy" mood and mindset.

Mark my words on it.

It's spelt Mum here.
Fun fact: FFXII had a mob called Mom Bomb, but during a screwed up localization it was changed to Mum Bomb which in fact sounded stupid.

I don't know, if you interpret what the developers have said about the game, it makes me think it's not coming out until late next year if not delayed.

I'm not sure where I heard this (possibly during the Sony E3 Press Conference)... but the date 12/10/2010 seems to stick in my mind. Take it with a grain of salt, of course.

That's quite a bit late, especially considering they said they wanted to build up the game (even more) based on player feedback from beta, so a beta will likely be out sometime this year and FFXIV could be live early 2010, even before NA FFXIII's release date, especially since this is the same Rapture we've been hearing about for YEARs and they said they worked on it for 5 years now. Late 2010 release may as well be a 2011 release lol.

Spring or Summer 2010 if anything seems the most likely, haven't really heard anything about 12/10/2010 being a date anywhere o.O

I agree with Eeri's optimism and will place my bets on the end of summer.

Late August/September/Early October is a perfect time for release which may put the CB in March/April. First patch released around December just in time to hype up sales?

I think I've slept with SE enough to know how they think, thanks.
