So has anyone noticed that chocobo is HUGE, bigger then a galka in fact.

So the game wouldn't be FF without a chocobo right? Do you think they'll add a method of raising and breeding from the beginning? Maybe to a degree where it can fight for you? I mean seriously if I were a mob, I'd be scard to **** of that thing approaching me with an angry look...

It would be cool if once you raised a Chocobo you could summon it in battle to fight along side you similar to an avatar. It's not too far-fetched considering that the older games always had Chocobo as your first accessible summon. Although if every class had the ability to do this it might be stepping on the toes of the specifically pet oriented classes.

I doubt they'd have battle-mount Chocobos, but that would be pretty cool too.

at the very least raising would be cool. especially if renting choco's worked the same in this game as it did in could save a lot of time and money to always have a free chocobo accessable. and make it so choco's can enter cities and other previously unaccessable places. at the very least cities, i always thought that was kinda dumb.

the thing about them fighting is...well one of the things i liked about XI was that you were safe whilst on your bo. you could use the bo <along with sneak and other stealth spells> to get to places you had no business being at your level <whether for exploration purposes or quest purposes> so while im all for fighting alongside chocobo's, im iffy about losing the protection they granted in XI

perhaps they make seperate job called chocobo knight. that way your invulnerable while on a bo unless your a Cknight.

but if they DID go the other way and anybody could use them to fight. i dont think itd step on anyones toes. just make it so that they are far less effective as pets than avatars, wild animals, and wyverns. and make it so you have to do a certain quest and be a certain level to fight with them

or perhaps when breeding you can only have one chocobo. you can raise it for speed or power. if speed then its a riding bo and you can use it to...well, ride. if its bred for power then its a fighting bo and can be used as a pet <and chocoknight if they put that in there> to fight alongside with

I agree, Vedina. While I do think that fast travel would be a wise implementation to FFXIV as an alternative to the long ferry rides and Chocobo treks when you're short on time, one of the things I loved the most about FFXI was exploring.

I loved roaming the more hostile areas of Vana'diel even at a low level, and many of these places were only safe for me on Chocobo (this didn't stop me and my friends from wandering around Ro'Maeve and other dangerous dungeons accessible only by foot at the ripe level of 35 - 40, however).

It would be fun to see fighting chocobos and the like, just as long as we don't have to give up our trusty steeds when we feel like taking in the beautiful world I'm sure SE has in store for us. :)
