Beastmen Races for FFXIVFollow

So, who wants to play as Beastmen? No need to be humes, galka, elvaan, mithra, taru, moogle, just let us play as the bad guys. Yagudo, Quadav, Orc, Demons, whatever it may be. The option to be "evil" should come up in FFXIV, as it would add much more diversity and originality to the game. That way PvP could show up more frequently, like Besieged matches, but with palyers versus players, raiding each other's cities. It's something to at least consider...:/

As much as SE pushes the whole "everyone across the world playing together" concept, I don't see this being a very likely addition at all. Besides, I don't believe that SE was looking to expand PvP much farther than it was implemented in FFXI.

Personally, I would not want to see this in FFXIV. The last thing we need is jackass ********* pking all over the place.

Eh, not really. Final fantasy has never been about factions and fighting against other people. It's always been a team game where there is a clear enemy that you work to destroy.

This is...um...Final Fantasy. That would never happen...nor should it as the whole premise of every single final fantasy is about the "little guy" rising up as a force for good against the overwhelming forces of evil. It's probably the main reason they limited PvP to what it was in FFXI and why they will keep it about the same in FFXIV.

Not only that but it would double the amount of story needed.

I'd be happy enough just to see Yagudo, Orcs, and Quadavs return in some form or another, at least as a cameo.
#6TheFlyingGoat, Posted: Jun 06 2009 at 4:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The only beastman races I want to see return is the orcs and goblins. The Birds and turtles should be blown away by a massive explosion. The birds were the lamest beastman race in the entire game followed by the turtles. Orcs & Goblins have been a part of FF for pretty much ever. Down with the turtles and birds new land new stuff!

No...thank you on the players being the evil race as well, this is not WoW.

I think we'll see Goblins again probably in their same position they are now. Orcs are a given, but they'll obviously look different.

Well, we generally don't know enough of the story to say how beast men act in the new MMO if they even appear at all.

It is possible that if they implemented yagudo, orc, goblins, ect. into the new game that instead of it being a beast men vs alliance they could be more friendly towards one another.

But at this point I'd just like to see if they plan to added beastmen races in general (they probably will do ones like goblins, I can't recall the last FF that didn't have at least them) before I say "hey, I'd like to be that beastman race.

I'm actually hoping we won't see beastmen playing a big role again. They can have some, sure. But not being the enemies of the other races. I saw that for the past 5 years, no need to see it again in the next game.

I'd like to see goblins upgraded to playable race. In FFXI we've already seen that they can get along fine with people, and can be the most helpful NPCs there are (where would we Greedaloxes be without our gobbie bag upgrades?) Goblins also rival Tarus, and mandies in cuddliness, though not Mithra in fu...well you know, and if you don't, furriness. Furriness is the word we were looking for there, you perv.

I can also see Goblin smithy being the first bandwagon job too. HNM or mission too tough? Just throw more Goblin smithies at it.

Not bashing the poster but I dont think that beastmen are gonna be in the game at all. I think that and hope they're not. I feel that they story will be fresh and new and not about beastmen what-so-ever.

as others have said, its jus tnot going to happen. im not going to say "because that would turn it into <insert game here> and thats bad" no, there snothing wrong with taking things that work here and there to improve a game. however if you have the option to be bad, then its not FF. name one FF game where you werent the hero. and i mean a real hero. not just the protagonist <which can technically be a good or bad person> but you are the person that saves the day and stops the badguy <not the antagonist, again that can be someone good or bad. i mean a truely bad person> or monster or whatever

its just the way FF works, we're the hero's. if we have the option to be bad. well that wouldnt necissarily be a bad thing <lolz, pun> but it wouldnt be FF

so, its not that i wouldnt want it to happen, its that it wont and probably shouldnt happen

wait, are you saying you WEREN'T the badguys in FFXI??

Bastok's invading quadav territory and killing their babies to take their mithril

the Elvaan have exactly the same culture as the orcs, actually, no, Elvaan infight a lot more than orcs do.

the Tarutaru are manipulative bastards responsible for unleashing destructive magic upon the world and started the cycle of warfare that consumes vanadiel to this day.

Mithra are amoral mercenaries who fight for the highest bidder (right now Windurst)

Aht Urgan's military is comprised of SOULLESS monstermen.

jokes aside... FFXI did a great job of portraying the story from different perspectives, no race one dimensionally evil... except for the Tarutaru.

Those guys are evil.

the Vanadiel Tribune had really great stories relating to different events and beastmen characters.
There's plenty of warfare between the 'goodguys', and alliances with beastmen in the past.

Elvaan and Quadav in the past, their kings were friends and allied together against orcs.
The Tarutaru initially invaded the Elvaan tribes and conquored them.
And more recently, San d'Oria was at war with bastok.

Orc kings are described as heroic leaders in their people's eyes, and even a gigas can be regarded as an honorable warrior by his enemies.
There was a good line that was something like "the greatest tragedy is that circumstance made us enemies", an Elvaan knight said it of a gigas who died protecting his comrade's retreat.
