Sorry if someone has already pointed this out, but I just noticed, in the picture of the galka, there's actually what looks like someone on their hands and knees dying.

They've already said this is in game footage. And it's always fun to go wild with speculation!

Thoughts on this? Could we just be incapacitated and never KO'd, or perhaps casting big spells wears you out?

reminds me of gears of war. Maybe he is downed and that jellyfish thing is going for the curb stomp KO.

(looks like a NIN to me)

they didn't necessarily say that was in-game footage, only that it was rendered using the games engine. which could mean actual in-game footage, or an in-game cutscene. I'm leaning towards the latter.

The Leviathan bit would definitely be, but I don't know if they'd show fighting in the cutscenes. That's usually the part where you start playing, no?

Nice pickup, never noticed him before.

Yeah, there is a good chance that we're seeing is an in game cutscene, but I'm still not tired of looking at it XD

Maybe he lost his glasses? >.>

In all seriousness, good find! I've seen that screenshot tons of times and never noticed.

In the fun of speculation, maybe he was hit with a knockdown move, and was getting back up on his feet?

I got around to checking it out frame-by-frame in the video, where you can see it quite a bit better. At first I thought he was crawling away from a monster, then I thought he was reeling from an attack, but after looking it over a bunch of times I'm now pretty sure he's performing some kind of a sweeping kick.

We need somebody to extract all the images from that sequence and post them for us to obsess over. What's a program that could do that? Media Player Classic?

I don't think this matters or will give any insight into the game at all.

Kicking?

Or

Dying

These are literally the only worthwhile frames in the scene, which lasts a whole of 2 seconds. Doesn't really clarify much lol...

I hope this game doesn't involve running around stabbing incapped players in the neck with syringes of morphine/adrenaline/"pheonixdown-othyl".

That makes you think though! That "could" very well be a mnk type job with a sweeping animation for one of his special moves. Which based on both of those pics is my guess in the least. But to the OP good find! I need to really dig deep in the screenies to notice things like this >.<.

Like others have said, I don't think they'd make a dull fighting CS.
One of the very few WoW CSs is just a bunch of guys fighting, which is boring as ****, unless of course you have a hot dancer in there bending in all positions...

Looks like, to me, that he's dying, or at least wounded.
The "kick" might be him trying to fend off the jellyfish while he's incapacitated.

Definitely in-game cutscene, so, I'm assuming this Ninja/Mnk/SAM has some kind of importance.

Not sure he's important... if you look closely at the screenshot as well as the trailer again, you'll notice the hume males are all the same [hair color and hairstyle].

About the Humes;
If it were a CS I doubt they'd use the same model a million times and then 1 random galka.
Looks to me more like they went for the most basic model to show that there are other players on the boat.

I'm thinking that the cutscenes depend on your characters... And it's possible that they only used the most basic hume model as their starting characters for the cutscene?

Without a doubt, it's an ingame cutscene. There's no way that's real gameplay.

they said the fighting scene was actually gameplay graphic and if you compare it to other games this title will have to compete with when it comes out it is most certanly possible

I also heard what Nerio said in one of the interviews: that's a game-engine view.

Why? The only part that doesn't look like it could be taken straight out of an FFXI battle is the galka with the axe, and that could easily be something like a weaponskill that targets multiple monsters.
