that pic fails because players in battle do not die, they just get knocked out.

I think a perfect way for making a Chemist a very viable healer and raiser.

I thought the way it works, is that people are absolutely fine and dandy, drinking tea and crumpets, until that last point of HP was removed. Then they have a critical existence failure and their head explodes.

Giant fireballs? No problem. Sword lodged in your skull? Laugh it off. I still have HP left.

Then you walk through a puddle of somewhat uncomfortably hot tea that was spilled by your friend, which removes your last HP and you fall over dead.

that was made of win

and yeah thats the way i see it too. your dead

if a monster kills you in a normal situation: your dead but phoenix downs are enough to revive you

if sephiroth kills you during a cutscene: no amount of fiery feathers and magical life giving atatcks nor any modern medicine can save yo sorry *** from eminant doom. that and tea. the deadliest substance in the world XD

my opinion, bring items back. in FFXI i hadnt used a potion or anythign like that once <though ive heared there are quests such as solo summoner battles where it is recommended to bring them along> and that just made it feel less liek FF to me

they need to put them in the game, make them affordable, but perhaps lower their potency so as to not outshine a WHM because you have 20 stacks of potions. usable and affordable. i barely knew they existed in FFXI and they always cost a rediculous amount

Pheonix down and potions at an affordable price to make them worth buying would be good.

I'd like to see death worked into battles like it is in regular FFs rather than once you die its basically over for you in that fight. But I don't know how this could be fleshed out with a proper penalty and to prevent noobs from using zombie tactics when clearly outmatched.

FF1-10: You stay dead until someone casts Life, uses a Phoenix Down, or in 1, you go to the priest to have him molest you.

FF11: You stay dead with the option of going back to your "home point" at an xp loss

FFT: A counter goes from 3 to 0 then you become a crystal or chest

So either you are recommending not allowing homepointing, or farming dead bodies for treasure and crystals (sorta, in T they are place-holders if I remember correctly), neither of which appear to assist players in zombie tactics unless I am allowed to use my fallen comrad's Riddel and full AF by letting him die and hoping he becomes a chest not a crystal :-p

You know, yesterday in FFXI I was trying to cast Raise in a heavily aggro-populated area, with magic-aggro mobs on both sides of me. Tractor was impossible, as the body was in the only safe area, sandwiched on all sides by aggro mobs. The first thing that came to mind was **********, I wish Phoenix Downs were in this game." I had to wait for the short window of opportunity when the magic aggro mobs (a pot and a doll in this scenario) had moved away a bit, before I could Raise, Prism Powder, and get us both the **** out.

Because Reraise and Reraise II items are easy to obtain and in no way game-breaking, I fail to see how a consumable item that just casts Raise has evaded FFXI all these years. Hopefully such an item makes its way into FFXIV, if just to make Raising in miserably dangerous areas a little less harrowing.
