Please, support translation to spanish. Spanish players also have the right to play and understand the game.

"To Square-Enix CO.,

Related to the new announce of your next MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV online, and the absence of Spanish language in the launchment of this game, we ask you to translate the whole game in Spanish. We think that Spanish community is big enough to take that consideration and we deserve it as big fans of the saga that we are. We were very disappointed in your last MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI, when we saw that was going to be translated in French and German and not in Spanish. We do not want to see the same situation in the next game. We have to keep in mind that Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world and the fifth in Europe. In addition, we think that this action will attract more people to the game because most of Spanish people refuse to play it if it is not translated.

Sincerely, "

Thank you ^^

I'm spanish and i'm playing this game in English, because the integration with other player is harder if you play this game in spanish, but even so i think everyone should help out, it is nice having the option of playing in your own language, this is good for SE because Spain is a good market with a good number of PS3s there.

About the second most spoke language, huh, that argument doesn't help, even though we're the 2nd language, the game is only getting an official release in Spain, so you cannot count American countries, and anyways, the market for an MMO like FFXIV in there will be really low, just like you almost didn't see south american people playing FFXI.

If i recall correctly, the order in preference @ Europe for translation stuff (and gaming sells) is UK > Germany > France > Spain, so we should be next.

I play FFXI and I don't have any problem with the language, but my friends do. Not everybody can speak english and they refuse to play due to it.

Spain is a huge market for videogames, and its growing everyday, and I think the translation will be a good deal for both parts.

Not to mention, the US has a large percentage of the population with Spanish as their first language, especially on the west coast.

The dialects may be different from Mexico to Spain, but I don't know, as I only speak Kitchen Spanish.

I'm all for more internationalization, as long as they do it throughout the game's life and don't delay the game several months so they can have a new language ready at release.

Although I agree to an extent, the sheer number of spanish speaking people in the Americas (both North and South) should be more than enough temptation, even if release there isn't official.

On a different subject, I think that you should reword this slightly. It sounds too much of a demand instead of a polite request. I refer to the underlined sections.

Unfortunately I didn't build the petition, I'm only supporting it. But I'll send an e-mail to the person who started it with your advice.

Thanks ^^

I have no problem with language support. My only problem is when cowards use their native language in english type to curse or insult someone thinking to themselves probably how clever they are.

So to that end I being a primary english speaking person would like a translate function put in place so if someone decides to type in thier native language but does not translate it I can simply select the peice of text and hit a translate button so I can see what the coward called me.

I know that seems negative to suggest but I know people have cursed me or insulted me in the past because Ive taken the time to translate it through tools online. It would just be easier this way.
But also if its not an insult it then allows me to respond inkind to their request.

I can respect that you dont want to learn or use english; respect that I dont want to learn or use yours! Universal translate FTW!!

Hi all!

I'm the authoress of the petition along with my boyfriend.

First of all, thanks to ChocoboRider for spreading the word at these forums :).

And next, about the consideration of rewording the petition I didn't want it to sound as a demand :S. What I meant with "the whole game" is that we don't want to have a little instruction manual in Spanish as they did with FFIX. Maybe you're right and it seems that we are insisting too much with that petition, but that wasn't my intention. I'll take a look if it can be changed. Thank you for your observation :).

even though spanish may be the second most spoken language in the world, you need to take into account several things;

the first is the people that speak spanish as a second language, the second is the number of native spanish speakers that don't have a computer that could run the game (or decent internet access), and of the people that could run it there are those who are just not into MMOs, and of those that are you have those that would not be interested in final fantasy XIV.

Not to mention that there are large enough differances in the dialects that they could run into serious issues, and as has already been stated, the largest potential spanish speaking market is spain, so it would be one of the european dialects that would be chosen anyway, meaning that it would be of little use to those who speak spanish in the US (as most of the native spanish speakers there would be speaking one of the south american or mexican dialects.)
