more emphasis on the little thingsFollow

even though it really plays no part in progressing, i'd really like to see some emphasis on the smaller aspects of the game.

one thing could be our mog houses (assuming they're bringing them back). more space, WINDOWS (with scenery), maybe even a balcony you can go out on with a view. and maybe have x amount of different models for each nation rather than just one model for each nation. they are apartments, right? well, give us a sense of height maybe. a lobby where we can access guild information, gather together for a party, just mingle, or something. not sure what the requirement would be for a small mog house vs. a larger one, but i know a lot of people really get into decorating their house. to justify it, maybe we'd have more options available to us when we're inside, and not just storage/job change.

another thing i see all the time in ffxi is the /dance emote. i know they added a few animations too, but they were ripped from DNC, and being a DNC myself, i was really disappointed when i saw that because it took away a special part of my job, even though its purely visual. maybe have a macro line for /dance emotes, but if there is a DNC job (by god there better be!), give them seperate, flashy dance animations so it doesn't feel like everyone can steal your thunder, in a sense.

more emote animations, period.

on the same level, instruments. i know in LoTRO you can play instruments, like literally play them with your keyboard. the addition of instruments everyone can play would be a fun time killer. of course, the option to turn off the instrument sounds would be available. and again in the same light of DNC, if BRD is in-game, they would have access to more notes? more instruments? i'm not sure, but more of...something.

terrain-freedom. i want to be able to jump (i know there is a thread about this), but also, i want to be able to swim, fall off a building, and well...i can't think of anything else, but you get the idea. i feel incredibly grounded in ffxi, and being a taru, it just makes things worse.

and the last thing that comes to mind is a more elaborate, less vague/strict chocobo raising system. like, i want to see a ranch, ****, maybe even several, where its strictly for raising. blues, greens, reds, blacks, all the colors, with special abilities, FF7 style but MMORPG-realistic. i'm not saying i want to breed a gold chocobo and fly/tread water/climb mountains all the time, but something exciting. maybe tie in quests where you need x chocobo to reach y destination, or just make it a full time thing, ex. only red chocobo's can travel on volcanic/otherwise hot atmospheres, or get a speed bonus. somethinggggg.

i apologize for my late night rantings.

anything else small you'd want to see emphasized/added?

why would we need to sacrifice anything?

"ps3 limitations" already?

Those sound like some fun ideas to me. I'd love to see the return and expansion of the Mog House and chocobo raising systems.

As much as I've always liked the idea of music/instruments being playable though, it seems like it might be a tough fit in FFXIV to me. But that could just be me.

I think we should just leave questions like that for developers and developer-centric conversations. People should feel free to get their ideas out there; it's the developers job to consider ideas and prioritize them.

I mean, if you really want to get into it with a question like that, I'll be glad to field some of your questions along with any other forum goers experienced with development process, but. Don't bug the regular forum goers too much. <3

Makes sense :p

I'd like more instruments, too, if there'll be a job like bard in XIV. Guitar would make it 200% cooler already :Q_.

I think seeing things like in-game band battles and pants-off dance-offs would fantastic. It's the smaller things that make a great game great. Being able to light fireworks, or have small pets follow you, a few gag items and silly animations; they're the things that keep multiplayer games social. This thread is right on.

I agree, it's really the small things that makes a good game even better.

I would love it if BRD songs (assuming BRD makes a comeback) weren't all the same half-assed melody. It would of been nice to have a different melody for each song type (ballad/madrigal/minuet/etc).

It would also have been nice to be able to invite party members into your house or be invited to the house of party members. Would of made a nice place to go to talk strategy before a big mission without having to use party chat and not having to listen to 100 other people in a zone.

it would be hilarious the first time i heard someone rockin out the organ solo from inagaddadavida on their little virtual-woodwind-like instrument. on the other hand, i bet more often you'll get some 12 yr old mashing the keyboard and making obnoxious *** noise with virtual instruments.

is that how it goes in LoTRO?

I agree with all these ideas.

Maybe give us an ocarina like in Zelda64. It's incredibly simple but you can play a lot of real music with it. I remember having fun with that thing.

It would be nice if ppl only got brd buffs while the brd was singing and standing still. The second the brd moves. The buffs are off.

Well, the main detail I want is battle damage.

If I'm beating down a monster, I want to see it covered in blood (not drenched like gears of war style blood) but something realistic. Have armor dented and some parts ripped off. Sword is covered in blood, arrows stick out of the mob. Same with the player, I want to see black eyes, scratches, etc. This idea is really out there but it would be cool to see. The version we kinda have is when we're low on HP in other FF games, the character changes their battle animation. I guess they could do something like that as well, even when not in battle and running away.

Also, when I fish, I would like to atleast see the fish when I reel it in. ;)

The only little thing (detail) I want them to include, or pay attention to, is the addition of some sort of sheath or belt for weapons not being used, especially 2H weapons.

I know it is a very minor issue, and I admit to being nit-picky by saying this. Still, the first time I equipped a 2H sword in FFXI I immediately thought there was graphical glitch or something - the way the weapon just seemed stuck on my back without a belt, or sheath or something.

I guess I wouldn't have even noticed that, much less wrote a whole post about it - if the rest of the armor detailing wasn't so good - which is another thing I remember about first playing. The armor and weapon detail was excellent in FFXI, but the weapons were just stuck on the char when no being used.

Exact details like that can be a real pain to pull off, especially in a game with different kinds of weapons and lots of different models in each category. Unfortunately, I imagine a detail like this ends up pretty far down on the priorities list since it's a lot of work for something most people don't mind.

And more still, 2h swords tend to have a wide range of designs and sizes with all sorts of things sticking out, so you'd like have to make a different sheath or strap for each one...

Fortunately, this is SE we're talking about. Though most MMO's don't have stuff like that (weapons glued to backs is a common video game phenomenon) we'll see.

Little things...

I would like SE to make each of Bard's songs sound unique this time around. It would go a long way in spicing gameplay up for the person playing the role of Bard.

Exactly. Poor Sony, everything was basically blamed on their console and as the years went on, we found that not nearly as many things that SE wouldn't give us were actually because of the alleged "limitations".

I'll be happy with a little bit more... Diversity I guess is the word I am looking for. It's ok to use the same general creatures in multiple areas, but SE really took it to an extreme in XI and it never really felt like you were looking at anything new. Sometimes the color would change, like in the case of your basic dungeon-dwelling crawler and your mountain-dwelling eruca and that was cool.. But it felt like that was one area of the game where they didn't put in much effort.

I'd like to see us EXP'ing on mobs other than rabbits, lizards, crabs, fish, worms...you get the idea. Monsters are supposed to be scary, not necessarily cute little things!

Apart from that, I would like:

A semi-transparent minimap (so I don't get lost so easily) and a HELM radar (so my tab button isn't broken).

More variety in auto-attack animations (or give us some fancy abilities with cooldowns).

Different ways to get crafting guild points (send me out on a wagon escort mission, or to clear out a monster infested point for the guild, or mine/log/fish/harvest a rare/ex item, not just synth random items to trade in).

Auto-craft mode!

More relevant synthesis recipes (why am I crafting this thing to sell to NPCs...where are things I can craft that people actually buy and use?).

Crafting should yield equipment not quite as good but similar quality as loot from monsters (make it that special ingredients can only be bought from NPCs on a timer etc so supply and demand are relative to the "value" of the item crafted. Half of AH or more is cluttered with useless gear nobody uses).

I'd cry if SE didn't implement all of your post ideas, because I agree %100 with it. Hopefully, they have a team pouring through our ideas. If not, shame on them.
