is there anything released for the system requirements of this game? currently Im getting a good deal to buy a new laptop. but this "bargain" is only available for 1 month.

its a laptop with core 2 du 2.66 ghz (T9550) 4gb intern memory and ATI mobility Radeon HD 4570 (512MB).

before i buy this, i want to make sure its able to decently run FFXIV without alot of fps drops or anything.

Does anyone know if there has been anything released for system requirements ?

Any help is appreciated! =D

Not that I'm aware of... I wish they'd hurry too.

My current PC is dieing, and I'm not sure how much longer it can hang on. Hopefully, they'll have info by October... holding out for Windows 7 at least...

I haven't heard anything about system requirements as of yet either.

I just bought a new PC a couple of months ago, and not with gaming in mind; so, I am currently saving up for a PS3.

When ffxi came out I bought a new computer too run it...Looks like ive come full-circle.

you're right :) it takes at least another year until its released so im better off buying this laptop one year later too when the price is the same anyway (or decided to buy a different one).

Well my old PC's got an X800XT card in it, which was pretty good for the time it came out (ages ago) and the in-game graphics on the demo didn't look too insane, only problem is things like pixel shader 3 which my card dosen't support. Personally I think if I'm not buying a new PC for some other reason at the time this comes out I'll just buy a PS3, or hopefully they'll bring it out for 360 and I'll not have to buy a thing.

i think you can bet on it that they will bring it out on 360, just not on the realse ...

probably 1 year later or so ?

i read somewhere that FFXIV will have full DX11 support, so for full gfx you'll need a DX11 card

Taken from the Tanaka & Komoto Interview:
Quote:
In regards to the PC version, the game will utilize the most current version of Direct X that is out when beta testing begins. This goes for Operating System as well. Similarly, they do not specify Vista or Windows 7 as an operating system, saying again that it will depend on what is out at the time. For those of you looking to prep a new PC, Tanaka claims they are really looking to get on the cutting edge of technology with this installment. Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

I doubt any laptop will be able to run it as good (if at all) as a normal desktop machine if that statement is true.
If you ask me I guess the mimimum requirements will be something like:

Operating system: Windows XP/Vista/7
CPU: Dual Core with 2,2GHz
Memory: 2GB DDR2 RAM
Graphics: DirectX10 (or if avaliable DirectX11) compatible card with a minimum of 512MB RAM
Harddisk space: ~20GB

Woah. Time flies. I still feel like DX10 is "new". Can we get a link to where you read this? I'd consider upgrading my system if this ends up being true.

You can expect FFXIV to have a heavy system requirement though... I'm sure they'll release another benchmark tool well before the game comes out (like for the Beta). Expect it to be a hog, though.

edit: the post above me rocks socks. <3

Game isn't coming out for a year +.

Any laptop you buy now will probably have a hard time playing it when there is a lot going on. Just wait to get something until next year.

it will run on the DirectX version that is available at that time.

Ati releases their first DX11 card end of this year, Windows 7 with DX11 is released on 22th of October, so I think it's safe to assume that FFXIV will run on DX11 :)

Maybe, but it's not going to require Windows 7 and DX11. That would be stupid.

As far as the teaser site says is Windows XP, Vista and PS3 nothing about Windows 7 yet D:. Personally I built my desktop so its really not all that hard to swap out parts to make it able to play FFXIV. More than Likely I'll need to put a new Video card in and maybe some minor upgrades so I'm not sweating about the specs all that much. Plus I also own the PS3 so if I'm too lazy to upgrade I could always put it on my Console. But if you really are in need of an upgrade and can't build your own setup I really suggest to hold out until the game is closer to release so you can get the recommended specs or better.

It might not require windows 7 and DX11, but your game might run garbage without it. Currently there is no DX10 support for windows XP users so we are falling behind.

Wait and buy a mid range pc once the game is just about out(or if you must during beta testing). The specs won't change from now to release the only thing going to be changing is how much you are being charged for the parts for your computer.

If you dread upgrading your computer just for 1 game go buy the PS3 instead. You will be getting a blu-ray player and a top notch system to play your FFXIV on. Also if FFXIV turns out to suck you can easily return your ps3 and not look back whereas PC's are bit different.

We will see, i can't do console gaming so i will end up going PC, but if PS3's getting a fair bit cheaper i may just buy one of those instead.

Here's my speculation.

Minimum Requirements:
- Processor: 2.2 Ghz
- RAM: 2 GB
- Space: 10 Gigs
- Video Card: 128 MB of VRAM w/ Direct X 10
- Operating System: Windows Vista
- Connection: Broadband

Recommended Requirements:
- Processor: 2.6+ Ghz
- RAM: 4 GB
- Space: 20 Gigs
- Video Card: 256 MB of VRAM w/ Latest Direct X Drivers
- Operating System: Windows Vista/7
- Connection: Broadband

I'm in the market to build a new computer so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be shooting over the speculated recommended requirements. These modifications shouldn't be too extreme for the average person so I'm sure SE is taking that into consideration. I hope that SE makes the game available in 64 bit so some of the more hardcore gamers can make use of their systems.

SE said that they wanted to bring out a benchmark program so I'm sure that the more resources you have the better the game settings will be just like FFXI.

I have beta'ed windows 7 and as far as operating systems go its on the right track for being in the development stages, also takes up a few less resources than vista. But I hope they don't restrain this game to those operating systems. FFXI runs alot better on XP than vista. I downgraded my new laptop for that very reason.
