The use of traps in most games usually means that the mob is pulled and lured into a ambush of 100 players. I would like to see traps like that of the monster hunter series, where when said mob walks into the trap zone they are unable to act or maybe restrict there movement. Like say a sand trap area or even maybe a trap that deals direct damage to mobs, like a Hot coal trap. make it so that that mobs can also lay traps, like Qiqirin do occasionaly when they run away from you. I'm tired of seeing a goblin ambusher standing around in the open, beating off or what ever the **** its doing lol. And also to make it balanced why not make it so a mob wont fall for tha same trap twice. Anyway What are your thoughts peoples?

To me traps in Final Fantasy would involve some kind of status effect,or falling down, or chigoes and not the WoW way of fire damage, roots, freeze or ice slowing movement. The idea of players being ambushed by many mobs is good, but it should as with all "environmental" traps appear randomly in a given area, or it gets old. Chigoes in FFXI were a ***** in the early days of ToAU (FFXI) but after we learnt of their locations they were easily avoided.
So traps yes, but in random locations in the areas they do exist, but don't go mad on the traps or it may be too anoying.
/Steps on a trap in FFXIV and falls into FFXI never to return, nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Actually it's called "Libel"... and only if it is fabricated, but hey, you are the admin.

It would be interesting if there were random spots in a dungeon or in the outside where there is visiably nothing and one wrong step causes monsters to appear from the bushes, but if you circle around said bush before stepping on that location, nothing appears. Also trap effects such as status downs and movement impairs, a rope that slings you up and lets you be a pinata for roaming mosters for a little bit.

Haven't you experienced goblins waiting for you, hidden behind those stone columns in Buburimu Peninsula? ^^

The only time I've been Ambushed by a monster is when I was roaming around in Kuftal tunnel and that Jackass Guivre Rounded the corner infront of me and proceded to chase me around kuftal along with a couple 1000 crabs before I zoned into Cape Terrigan. I actually Said to myself "Now that was fun".
