To me traps in Final Fantasy would involve some kind of status effect,or falling down, or chigoes and not the WoW way of fire damage, roots, freeze or ice slowing movement. The idea of players being ambushed by many mobs is good, but it should as with all "environmental" traps appear randomly in a given area, or it gets old. Chigoes in FFXI were a ***** in the early days of ToAU (FFXI) but after we learnt of their locations they were easily avoided.
So traps yes, but in random locations in the areas they do exist, but don't go mad on the traps or it may be too anoying.
