Join your guild/linkshell "Rapture" we are a fast-growing primarily North American accepting other english speakers guild. We are a guild has both properties of a family and hardcore.

Our linkshell is called “Rapture” we are going to be one of the first to create an online guild community for others to know for a lifetime.

As the title states, come on over to a newfounded LS/Guild or whatever it will be called when FFXIV goes live. We are growing, the website is looking nice, and basically it will be great to have a “family” to enter the game at launch with.

So come on over to http://www.rapture.gamercrisis.com/ and to join just head to the Forum link and register. Drop a line and say hello and let’s prepare for FFXIV!

I wish you luck, but I'll be finding a group in-game, thanks. I don't like the idea of having a server designated for me by strangers from the start.

I think the idea is really good, cus that way you have a group of people to play with from the start, instead of starting out alone and having to find people to play with along the way.

But, is that really such a pro?

I mean, you don't get to experience the game for what it is, ever. You log in and, within seconds, you're immersed in the chatter of 50 other people.

Instead of learning town layouts, you find out where everything is through others.

Instead of learning solo mechanics, you group from the start.

Etc.

Maybe "join" but wait a while before actually entering it?

It doesn’t have to be 50 people in the LS....
I myself plan on playing the game with friends and we are about 10, so does that make the game experience a failure when I start the game with 9 other companions?

PS. Learning solo mechanism requires you to not be in a LS? ...

It is a little different with friends, imo. You have your established community and know each other. You are more inclined to learn off each other than a group of strangers.

And, generally speaking, when you have 10 people your level in a LS (or guild) chances are most of you will end up playing together instead of going solo. This is a trend I've noticed in EVERY MMO I've ever played.

Is it necessarily such a bad thing? Maybe not.

I'm just saying that the are pros and cons to joining a guild before you are even part of the game community yet.

or, you explore with people from said group. It's a decent alternative if you don't have RL friends who play the game.

I've just always found that people who get too much support from the start never learn to play independently. They are most often the ones that start begging for money, asking for dungeon runs/PLing, etc.

Does it happen to everyone? Of course not. Will people still be independent. Yes?

But, the risk is there.

But, like I said, it isn't necessarily a bad thing to be in one from the start, just as it isn't necessarily good. I'm not putting it down, I honestly wish them all the luck in the world. It is just best to put the word out there so people don't approach it looking for a support group and a golden ticket.

Well, based on the fact that FFXI required groups to play with and such and such. It wouldn't hurt to start off with a few people you know. But, one thing's for certain, you have to make sure to get the right group. A linkshell that shares your philosophy, and i believe this linkshell that I've devoted so much time to shares my same views.

Do you think FFXIV is going to have a linkshell system close to FFXI? I think that it is good to create some good communities for members so that when it is time for release, we'll have a lot of loyal solid members who are committed to the game.

I don't get it, how do you know servers won't be random? other wise there won't be a decent balance.. I just don't see SE letting people choose in the first few years, same way XI was.

SE is clearly anticipating people coming from FFXI with friends (evidence: they are trying to find a way to transfer friendslists from FFXI to FFXIV). It would be absolutely asinine to not be able to easily join the same server as your friends. Allowing people to choose a server is the best option. Besides, people's tendency to randomly pick a server (be it for their group of friends or on their own) will be random enough to keep the servers decently balanced.

You guys have come up with good points. But speculation that we won't be on random servers this time seems to be true. The transfer from FFXI to FFXIV needs to be smooth and the only way to do that is to have server selection. Besides in FFXI you can now select your own server, so that's awesome.

For those of you who are going to find a group in-game, that is understandable, in Aion, I don't think any guild is suitable for me, so a guild in-game is the best idea.

And, what if this game has the linkshell system and you can switch from guild to guild? How to keep loyal members from switching?

I'm interested, please sign me up. and there seems to be a lot of linkshells popping up recently. Why is this? I can't figure out why people are wanting to create linkshells for Final Fantasy XIV all of a sudden. Either way, I feel as if this linkshell has what it takes for me to join. I would really like to sign up.

It has been awhile since I've posted on this thread and for those of you wondering if our pre-release linkshell is still active, the answer is "yes". We're still recruiting, day by day we are slowing growing, but have reached over 30 active members log on each day.

We're out to recruit the most loyal members and the way to do that is to create an early linkshell and those who stick with us before launch are considered loyal, and those who aren't loyal will end up quitting anyway.

Also, to get to know the people you will be playing with on FFXIV a whole lot more. I've decided to create a new linkshell because in a year when we are playing with each other, we will feel comfortable with each other and therefore more success in the game.

I don't know if I want to join a huge group of people right off the bat, especially this early.

But it would be really fun to find a handful of people who want to roleplay right off the bat. You know, come up with character backgrounds and personalities and never break character.

My cousin and I did this when FFXI came out and its the most fun I've ever had in a video game.
