Interesting observations by GT. Didn't really expect a pop-block for this game since they weren't really excited about it but they made some pretty good points, minus the first imo.

IMO the only interesting observation in the whole trailer:

GT wrote:
This chocobo here seems in no hurry to run off. This could mean that mounts may be a persistent ally in the game, since it appears they carry player items.

Whoever wrote that clearly has little understanding of the game, there are alot of false points and just plain speculation in it.

Come to think about it having your chocobo hold gear and stuff for you could be an interesting feature and one I haven't seen in any MMO I've played (that I can think of, at least). Imagine your chocobo being your buddy, sort of like it is in the beginning of FFIV. You don't have an item that you carry around that summons it but it is a mount that comes with you wherever you are, holds stuff for you, maybe even progresses with you. I can see a couple problems crop up such as having a bunch of chocobo running around in addition to a character...it would basically double the crowd. Also, what would happen if you get a warp or get teleported somewhere? I suppose it could go with you if you are next to it and if it can enter the place you are going but what if you left it outside of a dungeon to wait for you?

Things to think about.

That would be a cool concept but I have to agree with Yog, what would the lag be like in the game? The idea of your choco progressing and being with you through out your adventures sound like a really interesting idea.

It was nicely done and people don't get that is just speculation they done this before.

People get freaky over so much little things, it was all this real.. Oh btw, there few staff members at GT that used to play FFXI.

Not knowing what a "pop-block" is, I interpreted this as: Gametrailers has a popup blocker that blocks the FFXIV trailer. D'oh! >.<;

Okay, so after a good self analysis of the video;

They claim the mithra is using a FFXI spellcasting animation, which it isn't.
They claim the area with trees and waterfalls and rocks looks like Bibiki Bay...which is a beach which = SAND
They Mispelt Elvaan which is comman ignorance towards the game imo
They seem to think violins are a percussion instrument?
Any long FF fan would instantly recognize the creature on the boat as Leviathan, saying it looks like a Pugil, which it doesn't is plain stupid.
The video description reads "We return to Vana'diel to scope out the secrets hidden inside this monumental trailer.", there's nothing Vana'diel related about FFXIV.
And finally, the named FFXIV the worst game of E3, why are they licking its *** all of a sudden.

You're misunderstanding the first speculation.

The Mithra's stance is similar to the the last frame of FFXI's Black Magic casting animation. Feet planted, legs spread, spine straight, arms extended parallel to the ground, palms facing out. The speculative implication here is that the nifty lightning-sphere effect is a Black Magic Spell.

Technically she's not animated at all, as she and her human companion don't actually move during that scene.

You have to admit the art for that leviathan type creature was extremely similar to that of pugils.

they could always give u a quest in which u have to raise your personal chocobo much like FF11. after a specific point u get a whistle in which u can use to summon your chocobo onto the battle field and interact with it. when u interact with it you could have options like riding it, or even using it as a 2 way dilevery system from your mog house storage and personal storage.

it doesn't have to be with u at all times. u could very well just appear have u interact with it for a minute or two then dissappear.

back to the pop block... it didn't do much for me... most of the stuff in that pop block was already argued to death here by someone.

The video said it looks like Purgonorgo Island, not Bibiki Bay. Which it does.

There were quite a few mounts or animal companions in Ultima Online that had storage on them. There's even one that can act as a forge!

Can we count starships in Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed? I had a yacht with all my crafting equipment stored on board up until they did the "new player experience." Then I dropped the game faster than you could say "wtf sony?"
