Customization of skin tone. I know a lot of Humes/Hyur that would like to be black.

I'd like to see lots of customization with character abilities and traits, along with diverse and original job and weapon types. i.e., more than jobs that can be shoehorned into "melee with cliche weapon" and "mage with the same magical affinities we've had for the last 30 years."

On that note, armor that can be customized for cosmetic originality. Particularly to avoid the trend of armor only matching other armor within its own set.

As for battles, I'd like to see large, epic battles be a bit more normal, rather than lots of small ones. For reference, taking on one huge monster and taking on a dozen monsters at once can both be large and epic. Taking on small monsters one after another, not so much. I'd like intercombat strategy to be emphasized over out of combat strategy (what jobs to bring, what equipment to have equipped, etc.) I'd like more unique AI and stats in enemy units. All lizards and crabs should not always have the same behaviors, abilities and stats.

New, appealing races.

Some sort of unifying guild location, whether it be guild halls or guild airships.

An ingame strategy card game. Also, a dueling option (at least) just to ***** around and kill time with.

A convenient way to rewatch cutscenes.

And so much more, but I guess that's enough.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

This has probably been said by hundreds of people, and thought about by millions of gamers, but:
Linkshell Pearls should most definitely not take up inventory space.
I would like to have "limitless" friends, and having to toss a pearl away because I don't have the space to keep more than three, is just plain nonsense.

I almost said something about that as well. Really, the Linkshell system is little more than a chatroom system. It's not even necessary to involve a physical object.

Personally, I think they should have different channels. i.e., you could have 4 linkshells on at a time.

Then let us make Guild Badges or something to denote what our actual guild is.

some out of gamestuff i'd like to see are a decent wikibase, thinking something on par or better than ffxiclopedias level of information,

ffxiclopedia is one of the best knowledgebases for anygame i've played. so hopefully 14 will have something of equal or even better standards.

also i can imagine something like ffxiah would also be incredibly usefull in 14. or some variation depending on the economic mechanics.

also i hope se take some hints from the xi windower and put status timers alliance mp, spell recasts and that kind of info all on screen.

First and formost I would love to see spears implemented in a cool way. Spear for me is usually the coolest weapon of any game but for FF11 is lacked so much. In general FF11 all 2H felt exactly the same, I would love to see a good degree of uniqueness from weapon to weapon.

I think voiced quests is amazing idea. For most all games I find it hard to get involved into quests. I end up just skipping the dialog completely and just get the quest started. FF11 did good job when adding cutscenes but honestly I dont think thats enough.

In that line of thinking I think a obscene amount of quests is needed for every area. 95% of FF11 quests were a joke and wasnt remotely worth doing. They were over complicated time sinks with almost no rewards. I am sure this could be done a million times better in 14.

To be honest, I'd rather they only let the player be a member of one linkshell at a time.

It's a pain to try and start a linkshell when all your members are switching over to other ones, then the new people see it's a fairly barren linkshell and leave for another one, etc.

I would love to see camera angle cuts like when I pull my sick awsome weapon skill I want the camera to switch angles in an artistic manner so I can better see the action, and see my characters face strain as I put an axe through a mobs face. Or atleast have some sort of avatar next to my name and others in my party so I can see the emotes change on the characters face because it would be a shame for those beautiful facial animations go to waste because my camera is always behind behind me at a poor distance.

Elaborate.
ffxiclopedia has tons of misinformation, poorly performed tests and straight up wrong information b/c people who don't know what they're talking about edit it as much as people who do and it takes awhile for other people to realize it and fix it, then the dumbasses undo the fixes (someone kept reverting to the wrong fTP mods for several WS for months after they were changed). I don't want to think about the number of times the SAM forum here has had people not understand sTP because of it (in fact, the sTP page is wrong about sTP caps right now). Plus, the search feature sucks. It's probably the best "general knowledge" site for ffxi, but I've seen better for other games.

Why?

I had quite a few linkshell pearls, some of them for specific purposes:

1) Social/Event LS - - I joined when I was around level 30, and remained until I quit.
2) Dynamis LS
3) Beastmaster/Summoner LS - - I was recruited while I was soloing in the Boyahda Tree. We did Jug/avatar burn parties, OHAT/Carbuncle's Mittens runs (Which made me a lot of gil), BCNM/KSNM's, and took down a number of HNM's. Got my Kraken's Club from a BCNM doing all BST party.
4) Endgame LS - - I was recruited to do crowd control with my BST to help a new endgame LS get all of their magic casters some Rostrum Pumps. They had no Bards, and I already had CHR gear from my BST, so I leveled it. As BRD I got Sky and Sea with them. Eventually, the LS grew powerful enough to take on pretty much anything. If it weren't for them, I would have never gotten my Speed Belt + 4 million gil of other drops. We did Your-orb-your-loot for about 30 orbs, all day event, once a month. I did KSNM-for-hire with 3 BLM's and 1 RDM once a week and made a nice commission off of it. And loads of other stuff, I won't bore you with.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd do if I were forced to remain in one LS at a time. It would be a nightmare trying to get certain events done with all of that typing congestion.
Having more than one LS helps a player to keep his/her chat organized.

I would like to see every monster from the Final Fantasy bestiary (I-XIII) make an appearance in XIV with maybe a dozen, or so new ones.
Vampires should definitely make a reappearance. Perhaps, even have vampires stalk you in some zones when it's night out, or place various lairs scattered all over the world for those of us that would like to form hunting parties to kill them for a quest in Guildleves.

This is the best image SE has ever produced of a vampire (enemy) in the numbered series. I pray that they create a new generation of the undead.

My favorite Final Fantasy battle ever was against the Evil Wall in FFIV. As I was leaving a dungeon, I was taken by surprise by this monster, and he got too close and squashed my whole party to death. It took me like three or four tries before I finally learned the strategy to kill him. He was one of the more difficult mini-bosses of the game. It would be cool if there were an Evil Wall in FFXIV, too.

blank slate gear!, would be cool if a system similar to abjurations in XI was implemented, but except instead of having a predetermined style for the armor, you get to apply the stats to any of a series of gear for that type.

so you can have a adaberk type body piece, but theres different containers the stats could be applied to, which could all be different in appearance due to the crafter dye and pattern addition as well as different models(hauberk type, gloom breastplate type model, etc). Would be cool if the ability to do so existed for all levels, possibly hunting abjurations instead of r/e gear(You can all blame aurum sabatons for this btw, dont think you're not to blame too bounding boots...)

not sure if it makes much sense but there it is lol

To nitpick, magic costs melee doesnt. Magic also usually has a longer buildup and can be resisted which is the equivilent of a miss.

something i was thinking about was the ability to have loadsa cosmetic options options on armors. completely change the look of them. while not drastic it would be nice to see a bit of variety. i'm kinda sick of looking at haubys on most of the dds. would be cool if you could have 3-4 maybe even 10 versions of them all with same stats but completely different looks, and not just altered colors,

or maybe buy a "blank" piece of armor and have your stuff enchanted onto it, some kind of system like ffx where you can can customise weapons pretty much anyway you want.
