Hey all,

I was just looking around the FFxi forum, and I saw a picture of a Galka, and I thought hmm, FFXIV should have age as a custimization.

Now right away I have to say there must be a limit, we don't need children and old men/women like Maat running around. but to have a a variety of ages for each face. Maybee;
Young (older teen)
Adult (duh)
Old (like this; http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Em8a.jpg )

That would be nice.

Mabinogi has an age system too, although theirs is a lot younger because the game is played mostly by younger people.

Over time characters also age up and you can 'rebirth' them. Not exactly something I would like to see in FFXIV, but being able to make your character older or younger would be kind of cool.

Although maybe their character customization will be in depth enough to allow for an older or more youthful appearance without having to choose an age.

Sure we do! Humes were always way too boring for me to play, but if I could be a crotchety old man that would be a total game changer.

Mind you, a crotchety old Galka might be even more tempting.

This idea could add alot to the gameplay as well. I was thinking that maybe if you pick an older charcter he is better at magic since he is so old and filled with knowledge while the younger charcters are better at fighting since their young and filled with vigor.

one of the biggest features of recent/upcoming MMORPGs is endless character customization.

is it really a surprise to you that it's something people care about?

It's got my vote even FFXI had subtle ways to show age with hair color,it gives the game more depth. The question the become does se allow you to choose or does it go off player registration.

I'd be the extremely elderly Tarutaru BLM who can dismember your body and send each part into 100 different dimensions in the blink of an eye. :D

I would like it, if I wasn't concerned about the difficulties of such a system.

I can only remember one game that really attempted to do that. And you basically had two options.

Set the slider to 13 years old, or watch your character get progressively uglier as they went up in age.

I certainly try to make my characters look roughly 25 or there-abouts, but I've noticed it actually seemed harder to get a mature looking young adult out of the system than normal character creation programs.

it shouldn't have any effect on game play or stats, that's just silly..
