Something I really hope spills over from XI...Follow

Is how you can do everything on one character. I *really* love in XI how if I so feel, I can do it all, lv jobs etc. all on one character. It makes me that much more attached to my character, and rather than keeping track of all my friends alts, I can just see them on, on *their* character as well. It made it a lot easier to keep track of friends and see the community in this game for me so I'm really hoping since they are doing *some kind of* a job system this will be possible again.

Anyone else got opinions/feelings on this topic?

I'm fairly neutral on the idea of using a single character for everything. I like the idea, but I wouldn't miss it too much.

For me I really hope they bring over level capping for content and level sync. FFXI had a lot of good ideas, but these two were something I felt should become staples of MMORPGs. A lot of games have had something similar to the level sync feature, but I always felt they made mistakes. Most of those systems have the lower level player being raised up rather than the higher level player lowered down. A big part of the system is just allowing people of different levels to play together, but another part is for high levels to help out lower levels. If you pump lower levels up, then suddenly they are partying in an unfamiliar high level zone with people using abilities they haven't gotten used to yet.

Yes the level sync/capping were really good, and capping lost its tedium soon as sync came into the picture for me.

The cap does a decent job at keeping many fights challenging...something which is missing from most mmo's today x.x

Being able to do all jobs on one character is very important to me, it is one of the things I loved most about FFXI, no alts, and not having to worry about having a friends list full of the same person, with different names.

As for the level sync, I thought it was implemented fairly well, with only a few issues that needed to be addressed, such as not being able to get skill up's if your skill was already to high for that area, but since we don't know how the mechanics of FFXIV are going to work, that may not be a worry anyway. If they do add level syncing to this game, I would hope as well that it would be to sync down to the lower level, and not sync up.

They've already said that there will be job changing...just not exactly how it was in XI so I'm guess they're keeping the everything on one character formula.

I want to see both really. The flexability to chose to do everything on one character, or split my jobs between different characters.

Maybe I want a Taru PLD and a Galka WHM?

Flexibility is rarely a bad thing.

I really hope they also implement Bells in XIV!
To endanger the soul endangers all,
when the soul is endangered it must become a Warrior.

Bells without geomancers? HERESY I SAY!!! =P
I agree with one character switching jobs whenever he/she feels like. You can still create alts if you really wanted to play a different race.

The great thing about having all your jobs on one character is that it also opens the door for so much more character development. By that, I mean you get to do crazy things like get rank 10 in all 3 cities, or beat 2 challenging expansions, or anything like that. I don't think CoP could've existed in all its glory with a single job system.

I haven't played other MMOs, but I could only imagine when part of the game makes you have 3 different characters, the total story line only goes so far. I feel that having one character makes all of the possibilities a lot more complex and challenging in the end.
