After looking around at the compitition, I realy can't wait to see what kinds of things will be in XIV.

Everyone is makeing a big deal out of aion but I realy think Bioware has them beat in the "raising the bar" catagory hehe, after all they hired voice acteres so all the the NPCs and PCs will talk to you instead of just haveing some quest text box.

The models are noticably still a bit rudimentry and cartoony but...
check it out-

I already plan to buy XIV but if the devs can top fully voiced, I might need a cold shower hehe.

Yes I know they aren't the first MMO to add vioces for common NPCs but they seem to be going a few extra steps.

SWTOR looks like an instant purchase for any fan of the KOTOR series, and likes the concept of an MMORPG.

Having fully voiced acting is great. No more skipping though quest text or story text and just running to the red circles on the map. =)

I do wonder what fully voice acting will do to content updates? Will the VO be rushed and not as polished as the Retail content or will you see lesss updates tot eh content due to extra work needed to really flesh out a solid update?

While I most likely will be playing SWTOR, its annoys me every time the developers say it'll be the first storyline based MMORPG, lol silly Bioware never did the market research.

Edit: I can't type :p

It will really depend on how the voice is implemented. As has been said elsewhere, I don't want to click on a NPC for a quest to hear the same thing, over and over, repeatedly... That gets old. Really quick. Really. (Please see LOTRO for example) I'm sure it will add to the immersion, but at the same time, I'm ok with reading my quests and other dialogue.

I think they should of ditched the voice acting in favor of better graphics. It looks like some made for tv saturday morning cartoon that caters to kids ages 8-15. There is no way I could get immersed in such a cartoony version of Star Wars.

I loved KOTOR. It is by far the best representation of Stars Wars made into a game. But having this game based on KOTOR it looks like a step down... The sacrifice seems to much to justify voice acting. Of course they are probably basing all their R&D on WoW... which doesn't surprise me. The Star Wars franchise never takes many risk and always play it safe. Which is why 95% of their games are mediocre at best.

Considering what the grafics looked like when they started it's actualy not bad hehe.

They have toned the cartoonyness down a good bit, they originaly wanted it to look much more like the Clone Wars animation with big "cool" weapons cause they think people like oversized "Phat Lootz".. it took weeks of complaining by the entire forum comunity to get lightsabers small enough to wrap one's fingers around.. *sigh* like I said it does look alot better now but it's still far to cartoony.

I'm glad SE seems to understand that MMO gamers over 10yo don't want to play toon town.

Oh yes the blasted "Clone Wars" anime makes me shiver. First time I saw it I just said,"...Why?". I just have to accept that I am not part of their target market.

Hehe starwars fans over the age of 13 aren't thier target audiance apearantly, I wouldn't complain so much about the stylised look they have settled on if it wasn't so 'saterday morning super guy'... I miss Super Dave :P

Back on track, The overly cartoony stuff is why I hated IX honestly, yeah the only people that look over 12 are the super ugly..
"Big Name" MMOs would do better to leave the realy cartoony styles to toon town, free realms, and the other little kids games. A bit stylised to smooth the feel of a lower polygon count can be a good thing, but even WoW knew people want humans to look human.

This is realy getting off topic, and it wasn't all that on topic to start with... lets see if we can get it back on the rails a bit, anyone have ideas on what they would like to see (or expect to see) inovated in the coming XIV?

Strike this post down Zurinadrg and it will be become more powerful than you can possibly imagine..... or in other words, you lost control of your post so just sit back and enjoy everyone going off on a tangent :)

Also SWTOR looks like its going to be aimed at a younger audience, and I am really not sure where the MMO comes into this title as all I saw in that trailer was a pretty substandard 1 player rpg. Looks like this will not live up to fan expectations.....

still when does any SW product really live up to the hype it generates... original film trilogy was great... Phantom menace - Revenge of the Sith were trashed as everyone thought it would be the second coming rather than the fun not so deep family movies they were ment to be.....

SWG was supposed to be the second coming in MMO's .... it wasn't.

KOTR - was well recieved due to the fact that everyone thought it would be a steaming pile of crap like every other SW product of the last 20 years. KOTR2 again disappointed the GAZILLION SW fans because once again they seemed to think that this would be the pinnicle of human existence or the second coming.... it wasn't

Now we have SWTOR and new MMO.... and once again people will get their hopes up only to have them ripped to shreds because everyone has sky high expectations of this really and truly being the second coming all SW fans want it to be, instead of viewing this as originally a film trilogy made for kids, and at best for the whole family to enjoy... same goes for the games.

KoTOR will be a hit just because like someone said they have a huge fan base but no one will care that they spent so much time on dialog if it plays and looks like crap.
Hmmmmm. Why does Enix keep nerfing all the tight stuff?

I'm kind of mystified by the excitement surrounding this new Star Wars MMO. Am I the only one who found the KOTAR games to be stale, cliched and boring?

I have since been playing WoW, I've been an FF fanguy for the longest time, but I've been taken Astray for far too long, personally I would like to play FFXI right now and get the most out of it before XIV but since its soon to come still, I think ill just wait for that, (as well as XIII) and get them both in one go.

The games have progressed so far in recent years, even since when I thought 7 was a revolution (which it still is)

I'm sadly a Graphics ***** sometimes, but that doesn't deter me from playing any of them, as well as tying any game thats better than decent in terms of story/gameplay/mechanics.

I'm Psyched for XIII and XIV, preordering the first day its available.
