I know this is obviously being discussed but I felt obligated to put it into another discussion thread.

I'm myself currently a subscriber to WoW, Its been great in the past but there is a lot about the recent expansion (WOTLK) that has players leaving slowly..but at an alarming rate apparently.

The big thing turning people away is reused content, and reused Skins, the same armor over and over with different colors, or slightly different variations.

or perhaps, the same armor for 3 different classes but colored differently, same thing goes for types of monsters, the skins/colored used, too many similaities. all the quests got dull, and reused versions of etc.. go collect this go collect that, kill this guy, kill that guy.

I'm not saying that SE did this for FFXI since I haven't played it myself

..though I am Psyched for FFXIII and XIV when they come out :3

Anywho those are my simple ideas that I would love "NOT" to see in SE's soon to come FFXIV.

I'm sure everyone here has amazing ideas, or critisisms for both ends.

Lets hear it :)

This is something that SE did a lot in FFXI while citing PS2 limitations as the culprit. With the PS3, however, I don't think that SE will be able to pawn this off so easily.

I didn't play wow very long but one thing I would like to see that FF XI didn't have was mounts. They seem to be a much faster way of traveling and it looks like alot of fun doing it.

I feel obligated to point out some oddities in your post:

So...you know this is being discussed but you decided to make another thread anyway...when there's already like 3 on the front page.

You created a topic for one purpose and proceed to talk about a completely different one...in fact, nothing in your post actually relates to it's title.

At any rate...as for the actual topic at hand, I like WoW's UI for the most part and that a number of third party addons can change it to whatever you desire. As long as FFXIV's UI is completely customizable I'll be happy with it. I liked the fact that Blizz actually listens to it's customers and considers their suggestions, often times implementing them. I also like the very large variety of gear you can choose from while leveling in WoW...being confined to the same exact thing everyone else is using gets dull. There are a number of other minor things I would want added to FFXIV that come from wow but I'll leave it here.

Yog you caught me good on that one, thats an example of my poorly conducted posting, I'm sorry for that :( too many oxymorons in that one. or just me being dumb :)

I agree with the mount issue though, we all know Sqeenix has had Chocobo's in its Final Fantasy series, but I'm sure they can pull some creativity out of the hat to make for some interesting mount ideas. would be disheartening to see reused mobs from XI as mounts,( then again it could be cool, since it would at least be fresh) but some new variety would be great as well.

Another good idea, not sure if XI has it or not, and I apologise if its already implemented, but a gear manager which Blizz recently implemented in wow would be great. it allows people to switch their gear for their job that they will be assigned to(Tanking/healing/dps) and other variations that the FF community uses in XI. and soon to be XIV.
