Digesting the Trailer, Chewing the FatFollow

Last week, Famitsu released its monthly Famitsu Wave DVD publication. Included on the disc was belated, but welcome, video of the interview with Producer Tanaka and Director Komoto that took place at E3. I posted a subtitled version in a separate thread, which you can check out here.

The magazine that comes along with the DVD also had a page on Final Fantasy XIV. Specifically, it was two Famitsu editors, Lupin Kojima and Shingo Noguchi, just chatting a bit and joking about their reactions to the official trailer and announcement.

Click here to check out what they had to say.

I wonder if Famitsu has gotten some info we don't know about regarding Gamescom, since it'll be the cover game in next month's issue.. would be quite a bold move to do if they're not even sure if SE will release any new info there.. :P

That's exactly why I'm thinking *something* has got to happen in August. Connect! On, an online gaming magazine, has also made claims to having more FFXIV info coming up next month, so we'll see!

Thanks again elmer. Nothing much new but its nice to see what some of the other 'journalists' across the ocean think of the newest game. And thanks for warning us about next week/this week (since famitsu seems to leak early over the internet XD). Im sure someone else will find the stuff before me, but ill keep an eye out for anything new sprouting up.

It's cool to get this video. Even though there's nothing new to learn from the interview, I felt reassured by hearing more concreted statements like "there will be no experience system or level system" straight from the horse's mouth.

This video left me more optimistic than before about FFXIV. Particularly, the sentiment that the overall goal is to immerse the player by facilitating progress and (brace for hot-button) "growth" naturally, as it comes, rather than having to sit down and scheme up a 5-year plan to advance through the ranks of adventurers. It seems that this time around, we really will be aptly named "Adventurers."

Nicely put.

Just a shameless bump because this belongs at the top of the thread list right now.

Actually it's called "Libel"... and only if it is fabricated, but hey, you are the admin.
