Where your toon physically hits the mob instead of slicing the air. If you watch the trailer you see the galka hitting the mobs to the side, i wonder how that'll play in gameplay, will mobs grab on to you leaving you hopeless until someone hits it off. Weapon type might play a part in it aswell, great axe knocks mobs, daggers stab, swords slice ect ect

You also see mobs bouncing off that magic dome thing, it might play a big roll in thegameplay.

yeah this is an interesting theory. I have seen alot of amazing things happen in game trailers. Just to be let down once playing the game. Until they release actual game footage. As for your question has it happen. MMO I couldn't say, But they action style you are describing reminds me of Resident Evil. So yes it would be an intriguing aspect.

I'm afraid we are gonna have to wait for the year to be up and see how long they decide to delay this one to have a true idea what to expect. I mean come on SE. We are still waiting for FF13.

What's interesting is we haven't really seen what the crystal engine can do yet. Gotta remember this game and ff13 are on a completely new engine created from the ground up by SE, so i'm sure there will be a lot of shock and awe once we get our hands on it.

As far as another mmo that has done it, nothing comes to mind.

Conan Online did it. The collateral damage thing, anyway. When you swung your weapon, creatures to the sides of your target would get hit as well.

That's about all I can think of.
