Wow, I really hope I am misunderstanding this gear switching. It sounds like there will be only 1 class in FF14 which will be the WoW druid, just to go up your spec you have to level in each individual form and eventually max out and everyone will be the same boring class, a druid. =/ This is really disappointing.

Sounds like someone took "falafel", dropped it, and picked up the new Tarutaru name. Smiley: bah

Yes, it seems Tarutarus remain destined to be associated with food, regardless of the incarnation.

I dont get this point of view at all. This is the same as ANY MMO that you can change class in, (Just like FFXI no less?). Yes, if everyone levels everything to the max we'll all be 'wow druids'? But theres really only a select view who manage it in FFXI and I wouldnt expect everyone to be able to max out everything effectively in this either. Massive time investments =/= everyone being the same

Agreed. One of the key benefits to 11 was that you didn't have to creat 1 character per race/job combination to do what you wanted. And even if you can max out everything in XIV (Which I'm sure they'll limit at least on the crafting jobs), that doesn't include obtaining the gear to make worth the while once you've reached the limit.

"Anyone have pld leveled?"
"I do!"
".....Do you have GEAR for it?"
"...Brb mules."

But I assume I'm kind of biased, I never really understood the draw of having all jobs to 75. Spending the gil, the time, the energy, and sacrificing all of those from other potential uses on your favorite jobs all for a hat and being able to bring what you wanted to events if you were lucky.

Bard, Ranger, Monk and Warrior pretty much certain to be in XIV.

(Bard looks like the one on the far left, might be Thief though...)

Remember all those fables that revolve around "Be careful of what you wish for?" Polls and what not sound nice and all, but what does it amount to? People vote on what suggestion they think belongs in the game, the top picks end up being scrapped because they just didn't work in practice, people are disappointed over something they probably didn't really want in the first place.

Or worse, they add all these fan favorites and end up with a product that only appeals to the kind of fan that posts in forums for games that haven't come out yet. Obviously ignoring the playerbase isn't the way to go, but I don't see anything significantly wrong with the approach they've taken now, especially considering the game isn't anywhere close to release.

There may be a certain arrogance from Square in saying that familiar races is for the benefit of the playerbase, but that's no more then shown by any of us saying we speak for what the playerbase wants.

I think it comes down to a simple logic. Get FFXI, upgrade the graphics, thrown in a new game system and fix the problems that FFXI had (solo levelup available and so on) and you have it release as FFXIV.
