Heh. I thought you had forgotten. Then I thought, "well, maybe I'm forgetting and he only said six..."

Anyways, they've been good reads so far.

They a give good insight and bring a lot of good points, defiantly worth reading.
I'm really positive that FFXIV will have a lot of different mechanics than FFXI since this is something SE is good at doing with all there FF's.

My channel with FFXI battle music and hard to find songs that were not even released on Original Soundtracks.

I also plan on uploading FFXIV music when the game is released.

I skimmed through them. We have a lot of the same thoughts, but there were some things I would quibble with you over.

btw, direction has no effect on crafting. It's very annoying that this rumor is still around, passed as fact no less. Multiple experiments have shown that it does nothing. Unfortunately that does mean that crafting really is just that simple and boring.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

It doesn't surprise me. Back when I did the majority of my crafting, (and mined my materials, to boot), it was "common knowledge" that direction affected crafting. If what you say is true, and I don't doubt that it very well may be, it simply enforces my point about the murkiness of what affects crafting in FFXI and what does not. And you're right--it makes it even more boring than it already is.

As for your quibbles, you wouldn't be the first. I'm just trying to {provoke} some thinking :)

Well, you have enough good things to say that I don't find a lot of merit in picking you apart. Most of the time I was reading it, I felt that you had adequately summed up the **** I've been saying for years.

So when XIV comes out, are you planning any kind of follow up? Maybe a checklist?

Well written, i loved the part about chocobos.

I was disappointed when I found out my first ever chocobo ran slower than molasses ._. I started raising it when the feature first came out and people were still speculating about what did what.

Since then I've raised one in every color, and I love them. I don't love the restrictions on where you can use them, and that they don't go faster than rental. If I spend 2 months raising this thing to be fast, why can't hop on it in Beaucedine?

14 should definitely give us flying chocobos. ^^

I hadn't thought of that, actually. I'm sure I'll write impressions, etc, and explore how much (at launch) XIV does or does not meet my expectations. That said, I'll have to put up a big flashing sign that says 'Launch MMO' at that time--the difference between a launch MMO and an MMO even a year in is night and day, (or probably should be). I probably won't be doing another series, but hopefully XIV will excite me enough that I'll be motivated to write more about it.

Aquilla, I think so too--I don't think a flying chocobo (say when you've raised it to the chocobo equivalent of max level) would be too much to ask. I'm not counting on it, but I should definitely be able to call my bird just about anywhere I please. I also expect chocobo raising at launch of this game. Maybe that's too much, but SE has to make a big splash if they want to impress the MMO audience, and saying "it's coming" doesn't cut the cake any more.

Glad you've enjoyed the series, everyone!

The first part of those segments brings up a very good point. Vana'diel has a serious case of the crabs.
