Every option I click on leaves me at a blank page that perpetually says "0 Loading" underneath the FFXIV logo. Is there something else that should be there?

EDIT: It decided to start working quite suddenly so... hooray!

It unfortunately looks like there will be no male Miqo'te or female Roegadyn...

/sigh. I just hope they're saving that kind of surprise for later.

Anybody think Limsa Lominsa looks kinda like that place in the 2005 video for Rapture? Like the bridges in between the different buildings and the big trees coming from the water. =DD

Aetheryte - shards of crystallized mist? Used for arcane machinery? Used as teleportation crystals but teleporting excessively can lead to irreversible damage?

Now that sounds interesting.

Seems like the armory/job system is going to be great.

I want to read more, but it seems like the site is having an overload from everyone visiting it all of a sudden.

Hopefully the forums begins to really bustle with some activity! No more bored at work reading the same topics over and over.

Leeroy.

See if you can find it.

Hrmm. I equip a lance, then I can jump.

So I'm guessing you're not leveling up, your weapons are.

I have a feeling, like it was stated over at massively, that this will play more like a single player game, with some MMO thrown in. That's the way it should be.

Well if it is indeed heavily single player game, then I guess raid/endgame content will be non existents.

Well it is more of a hope of mine. ;)

It would be hard to do both, although I'm sure there will be tons of Endgame/Raid stuff. Just think of it as WoW/ a regular FF game where say, you level solo, but fight Ultima Weapon Endgame in groups. Ala, FFVII.

Screenshots of areas (same as magazine images previously posted, but better quality)

Screen Shot 1

Screen Shot 2

Screen Shot 3

Screen Shot 4

Screen Shot 5 I think the fog effect looks kind of odd here, but maybe it's just me.

Screen Shot 6 Standing near an Aetheryte teleportation crystal?

Some information Aetheryte, apparently FFXIV's crystals.

Aetheryte 1

Aetheryte 2

EDIT: I must say, I can't WAIT to explore these areas!

Thank you to everyone who has posted screenshots.

This game looks incredible; it's clear that the bar for MMO's is about to be raised. Honestly, the only reason I'm looking forward to XIII is because it means XIV is following on its heels. What they are doing with this game is extraordinary; the level of immersion will far surpass XI. I guess I'll just stop buying games now and save my money for XIV.

Alright! I am pretty sure I got all the shots from the new site!
Includes: Intro, Story, City-States, Races, New area screen shots, Armoury System, Guildleves, and Aetheryte.

Edit: Really looks exciting. Also looks like we might be able to travel easier but looks like at a costs. Certainly will be interesting to see how everything works out.

Site seems to be a bit better now, but tomorrow I'm sure it will crash with more being being awake...so here are races.

Races:

Eorzea Races (Thus far)

Elezen (Male - page 1)

Elezen (Female - page 2)

Hyur (Hyuran?) (Male - page 1)

Hyur (Female - page 2)

Lalafell (Male - page 1)

Lalafell (Female - page 2) They have rather interesting (a.k.a. creepy) eyes.

Roegadyn (page 1)

Roegadyn (page 2)

Miqo'te (page 1)

Miqo'te (page 2)

The rest is city-states and story...not captured by me yet.

EDIT: And the intro and armory (job system). The job system seemed to be well explained enough in the magazine screen shots.

In the intro they mention a fourth city located in the mountains, called Ishgard.

However, it isn't apart of the city-state page so I assume it might be the 'jeuno' of this world.

From the city description of Limsa Lominsa, 1st pg. Seems Bards will be a job to discover after all. Being a pirate seems to be plausible too. I guess this is where all the guns will be sold. ^^

Some good stuff there. The art design is phenomenal. The work done by the FF team is in a completely different league from other RPG developers.

The gameplay page doesn't really answer any questions, though. Looks like Famitsu just had early access to all the same material that's been posted here. We know that there is a basic job tree (but now we know the main branches are called "disciplines") and that you can switch fairly freely between specialties. No details on restrictions of that or anything else.

I wonder if the picture of the mage standing next to the aetheryte thing is in-game? Gorgeous stuff.

One thing I thought was a little interesting was the mention of a tribe of Galka-thingies somewhere that had "mastered the art of magic." Also some hints that the new tarus are spry little buggers, with no particular emphasis on magical ability. Racial aptitudes might be interesting this time around.

I am thoroughly impressed. I have to say, so far Square Enix not shedding any light or possibly adding any new races is very disappointing. But even should Male Mithra or new races not be available, the LORE of this game, the thought put into it, the story of it. It just feels like something very very epic. I haven't felt this way since back in the 90's when they announced a new star wars movie was being made. Such a geek I am!

But the way they present everything, the music, the artwork so far. I give it all a 10 out of 10. Thoroughly impressed, and a bit speachless. Even the **** website is a masterpiece.

Nah they were cited as intelligent in there profile which means magic casting specialized. That note did bother me a lot though stating how they are good body guards (melee race) yet some dwell as mages(?).

Hopefully there are more (read: many more) than 4 combat classes. Other than that I am pleased. What makes me happiest right now is the whole evil empire taking over the world thing in the storyline...it's just so classic FF.

A cool thing to do would be to sneak a few combat classes in the gathering/tradeskill classes. Anyway, though I am weary about the Armoury System I can see it being excellent so I'll reserve judgment until we know more.

There will be more than 4 combat classes, they are just teasing the information.

But wtf is up with the 'thaumaturge'?

Can't we keep the old job names? Is that a white mage? a black mage? a summoner?

I like what they are doing, but I am not so eager to play a 'thaumaturge' as I am to play something that has a FF-traditional name.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was possible to learn some skills (either active or passive) from the gathering and crafting classes that could end up helping in combat.

I'm certain there will be more than 4 classes. Each class will probably be divided into different classes as it progresses. But that's just a guess.

I didn't read much about FFXI before it was released, so I don't know how FFXI presented information on that game prior to it being playable.

Many games (almost every game I've played) released more content later on. Races, jobs, skills, level caps (just not in this case...but you get the idea), etc.

The info we have now is definitely not everything we'll have...probably even before a beta date is announced and it definitely won't be everything within a year of the game releasing.

There is probably much much much more to come...and learn through playing.

Thaumaturge could be the name that couldn't be very well translated into english (the one that could have been witch, shaman, warlock, ect...)

However, check out this about thaumaturgy...could be a couple other things (I think it's a summoner).

I just checked the pics on that site... Jesus H Christ it looks like FFXI... Just prettier. There's tele-crystals (or homepoints), one place looks like Rolanberry, another like a mix between Kuftal and the Shakrimi Maze (sp). Is this just a nex-gen boxing of XI's areas? Are they pulling a Nintendo and selling us the same game again? (Pokemon) lol

I can definitely see where you're coming from.

One could also ask: "The races look pretty much the same...just better graphics. Does changing their names really mean they're going to be different?"

How different of a game will it really be?

The armory and job(less) system seems different. I also am very intrigued by the Guildleves.

The cities, from what I can tell from the screenshots, look very different as well. I'm really looking forward to exploring them.

What about skills and spells? Will they retain the same names? Raise, Haste, Cure? Or something entirely different? And if it is different, does that make the game different?

However, I've played a lot of different games, and almost every single one has some area that looks strikingly similar to ones from a previous game. And some even have races that look very similar to those in a completely unrelated game. But they are clearly two separate games.

I am interesting the Guildleves and questing parts of this game. I'm also interested in skills and how they are acquired (aside from 'weapons').

What interaction is there between the three cities listed thus far?

Although the races look almost the same, but with different names, I think it will take more than similar races and somewhat similar landscapes (something seen in many unrelated MMORPGs) to say this is just going to be a high-def version of FFXI.

There is so much we don't know yet that can really swing the balance either way.
