I plan on being a Miqo'Te, I'm not sure how I will look just yet though. I will have to wait and see how many different styles and options there are to choose from, then pick and create my own unique character with what suits me best, as I'm sure there will be many options. I plan on originating from the city of Ul'Dah. Desert cities have always intrigued me and felt like home, as I was born and raised in them myself, so they end up feeling nartural to me.

I personally want to take a different approach to FFXIV than I had with FFXI. I'm not so worried about taking up arms and clashing swords, as much as I am intrigued by taking up tools and harvesting the goods of the land.

Being a gatherer sounds very interesting to me, and I cannot wait to see how such a unique profession ends up working. I always like being unique, and excelling in things that are new and creative, so hopefully I will become a great gatherer.

Being from the desert city of Ul'Dah, I imagine I will be doing lots of mining as well, perhaps even in some deep and scary caves?! Who knows what adventures await the brave souls willing to risk their lives for the gathering of Materials needed to support life in Hydaelyn!

I look forward to my arrival in Ul'Dah and the the vast deserts around it. And await the many adventures I will have as a Miqo'Te gatherer.

What race will you be?

I was a Tarutaru in FFXI and I'm gonna be Lalafell in FFXIV (despite the horrible name)

With what characteristics will you customize your character?

Brown hair, blue eyes, medium skin, messy hair, and as tall as I can make the guy

Where will you live?

Ishgard (the mountain city) if it looks cool, otherwise Gridania (the forest city)

What discipline will you follow and within which of its classes will you start?

Disciple of War -> Whatever class spears are

And that's (future) me :)

In case you want to, you can answer in a free-flowing paragraph or what have you. You don't necessarily have to go down the list. Doing that is fine, but I'm assuming some people might want more freedom and may not be sure if it's ok.

Just out of curiosity, is this valid only for NA folks?
Anyway thanks for the opportunity and the article! Between the official site being clogged and people spamming screenshots everywhere I was getting a bit confused Smiley: lol

Eeri, an Highlander Hyur, loved her mountains. When she was just a child she never thought of the possibility of leaving that place so dear to her.
In her twenties, Eeri was starting to look more like her beloved father each passing day. Hair of a dark brown, like the rocky walls that surround the area; and eyes of a deep green, like the lush grass fields when the night comes.
But the day came for Eeri to start her journey across the lands of Eorzea, only the Gods knowing where the destiny will lead her.
Her mother, a thaumaturge, taught Eeri the basics of her profession. Eeri was always eager to learn more about magic and ready to listen to her mother's explanations for hours. Her father, instead, showed Eeri how to look after plants and how to use them should the need arise.
With her parent's loving support, Eeri started her journey. A staff in her hand and a sickle in her backpack.

Edit: Added my character's BG. Thanks Elmer!

I think I'll make a Lalafell too this time round, being a Hume in FFXI got somewhat boring after 5 years. I don't know what kind of customisations i'll make to the character, it's usually pretty spontaneous in MMOS. I'll definitely go with Discipline of Magic as is my usual route, and I'll probably make an attempt at whatever class the 'summoner' type manifests itself as. Of course, we know there are going to be more jobs now, so I suppose it's more of a wait and see at this point.

Maybe we'll get some more from the gamescon thing? All this info has been awesome this week though and thanks so much for translating all the JP stuff Elmer!

EDIT: Oh and I'll definitely live in Limsa Lominsa, although there's a 4th city in the mountains too isn't there? So that might be another started and Limsa could be a jueno-type affair, though I hope they dont copy FFXI to that degree.

Nice article.

Where did you buy these magazines? I checked at just about every convenience store today (as well as at two smaller bookstores) and struck out at every one. I'm sure I'll find them sometime tomorrow or Sunday, but I was a bit disappointed.

Hey guys,

I'm Luci, a tiny and chubby Lalafell girl with twintails haircut.
It sounds tsundere to you? I don't know what you mean, I didn't choose it for you!
I have a cute little sister, she's even smaller than me! So cute I hug her everyday.
If you dare to touch her, I'll cut your aetheryte's balls in half with my relic toothpick!

I'm currently living with my sister in Gridania, the forestial town.
It's a beautiful city with lively people, I'd gladly invite you to drink a clover tea...
That's if you're a cute girl! Men are forbidden in my harem... I mean maiden haven.

I'm not fond of slaying beasts outside but I have to do it if I want to feed my family.
Hey! I'd never let my sweet little sister doing such a barbaric ritual! Not until my death!
At least, I can avoid it with my job as blacksmith's apprentice. I'm mainly doing repairs.
Recently, all these stupid adventurers like to break their weapons and armors on rabbits or crabs...
Well, thanks to them and their bird's brains, I have enough gils to live for decades!

Don't look down on Lalafells, ridiculously stupid tall men! Ho ho ho ho ho!~

I went to Circle K, Amano Shoten, 7-11 and Hon no Oukoku. They all had Famitsus, but only the bookstores had Dengeki. It should be widely available, though it's possible some areas don't get it on the day of release.

Hiya! My name is Amaloli and I am a cute Lalafell. I have big blue eyes and cute piggy tails! I spend my days slaying beast with my comrades and I can cook up some mean cakes in my spare time. If you like sweets, stop on by. I ways have something cooking! I currently reside in the city state of Limsa Lominsa, where the adventure calls me out to the open seas and I gladly wreck havoc. I'm a master of the swift bow and can shoot from a mile away. My friends count on my excellent accuracy and the ability to sneak out and take out enemies with one shot. I look forwards to seeking more great adventures and cake!

I think i will be going male Hyun where I will become a disciple of magic in hopes to became the equivalent of a blackmage (granted I like it... loved it in FFXI) this time around I will have hair and facial hair unlike my ffxi char where I was a cue ball. As I read more I may consider either the port or desert to call home. I already can't wait to make my character.

Wow, this looks great! I am definitely going with a Miqo'te this time around. Haven't decided between the diurnal or nocturnal, we shall see if any more information come out about that.

AT first glance, I want to go with a Fighter, as I saw Katana listed in there, but I have always played a mage, so we will see how that pans out. I may have to make two characters haha. And I definitely want to base myself in Gridania. I do love the outdoors haha. And I want red hair and green eyes!

I will likely be a female Hyur or a female Elezen. The reason is am leaning toward being a Hyur is because in FFXI the elves were a little too tall for my taste. In the end I may go with whichever has the highest magic stats.

This is because I will be playing a magic class with my primary focus being healing and buffing and a secondary focus on attack magic. I have always enjoyed being a healer and it's the class I've almost always played.

I really enjoy helping out my party members, friends, and even strangers when they're in a bind.

My character will be named Fina (the name I've always used) and she will have a gentle face with long blonde hair and blue or green eyes.

I am also interesting in both crafting and gathering, but if I had to focus more on one that the other I would choose gathering. Although I hope that some day I can be skilled at both.

I'm not much of a fighter so I'll likely never be using a sword, axe, or spear, unless doing so will give me some skills that can make me a more useful healer.

I really love all of the cities, so it's hard to choose. I've always been partial to water and trees, so it would have to be either Limsa Lominsa or Gridania. Right now I think I would go with Limsa Lominsa (granted that we aren't placed in towns based on our classes), but this may change as I learn more about the different city-states.
Toasting makes me uncomfortable. But toast I love. Never start the day without a good piece of toast. In fact, let's toast to toast.

Going to start out as a miqo'te, i'm a mithra player in FFXI so I definitely want to carry the cat character over. Would like to start as thief based character, or ranger haven't quite decided on that yet. Can't say how i'll customize w/o actually looking at the options they give us this time around. (just so long as I don't see duplicates of my character nearly as much i'll be happy) I was thinking of starting in gridania but ul'dah also catches my eye, so it'll probably be decided by a coin toss if I don't decide before i'm making my character.

Given my affinity for Galkas, I'll be a Roegadyn named Ralrra. I'll start in Limsa Lominsa, since the official site states that fishing is prominent there, and Roegadyn are described as a race of fishermen.

For physical characteristics, that's going to depend on exactly what's available in-game. I do want to make this incarnation of Ralrra as tall as possible, given that I have a large Galka in FFXI. He'll have a darker skin tone to reflect time spent in the sun fishing. I'm not sure about eye color or hair color yet (or if I have hair at all!); depends on what I think looks good at the time.

My starting discipline will be Gatherer, Fisherman. From there, I eventually want to move on to Chef, provided I need to actually cook the fish I catch. I noticed there's no mention of food consumption, but I can't imagine not being able to eat for stat boosts. My ultimate goal is to develop some kind of tank build based in the Fighter discipline. I have a friend who plans on doing some kind of support mage job, so I hope we can develop skills to complement each other. He's the type who would rather stand back and assist the party, where I was always the one who would rush in where angels fear to tread.

For me, I'll be paying some homage to my FFXI roots. My character is going to have a strong resemblance to Lieven, my original Elveen FFXI character. I might even use the same name. I'm not sure just what I'll customize the appearance to yet. Probably I'll go for a youthful looking character.

So I guess that means I will be an Elezen from Limsa Lominsa. I'm not entirely sure about that though, I'll have to see what other news pops up about Ul'dah. I always enjoyed starting new jobs in Bastok the most back in FFXI.

As for which path I will follow? Hah. That will be difficult for me. Back in FFXI all of my friends would give me a hard time for just how inconsistent I was with chosing which Job I wanted to play as. So I guess only time will tell with that one. I'm sure this new Armory system will help out my indecisiveness lots though.

I will be a male lalafell for sure. I was a taru in FFXI, so I will be in FFXIV with the same name. Not sure how I will customize my lalafell, but probally not too deep.

Where I live will have a lot to do with where the people I play with live. I will be starting the game off with my ex ls members, and a few rl family members and friends. I'm assuming we all will have a say so and all decide together on a starting city.

I will follow the sorcerer discipline, as I am a blm at heart. I might dabble in a few other classes but the equalivent to blm will be my first job. I probally would do blacksmithing also, so I can fix my own weapons and equipment.

I will be a female Elezen. I'll probably make her short compared to other Elezen and have short black/red hair and pale skin. Limsa Lominsa looks beautiful, the idea of traversing bridges overlooking the blue sea with the refreshing wind sounds appealing. My character will be a strict disciple of Magic most likely in the path of the Thaumaturge. I will thoroughly enjoy blowing my enemies up from the distance.
WTB Pet class, preferably a magic based one.

Heyo! My name is "Displace". I'm a loner Miqo'te and have been since I was 14. I have grey/black hair with pink highlights, with various makeup at times. My family was some of the last Miqo'te to migrate to Eorzea due to our numbers in our homeland being non existant. On the ship voyage we were attacked by pirates. My whole family was slaughtered. I hide in a big box of rotting fruit. Days were spent drifting and mourning. Then finally the thundering steps of a seafarer I heard come aboard. It was a Roegadyn. He held out his hand and swooped me up on his shoulder. And with one mighty blow of his axe sent the ship to it's final sunken burial. Since then he has become my big bro and looks over me. We reside in Limsa Lominsa where we've taken up gathering and crafting. He's teaching me how to fish and I'm teaching him smithing. Slowly I'm learning the way of the axe. And when I'm ready I will rain blood down on those terrible pirates.

It's been 2 months since I've last seen my Roegadyn friend. I fear the worst. It's not like him. However there has been a new influx of adventurers and a small group has offered me their assistance. We will be venturing out at sunrise... Regulators mount up!

Totally forgot I had an account on these boards. lol

I'll most likely be using the same name as in FFXI, Kurokikaze, and cause of that I'll be using the same character model (Hyur face 2 I'm assuming). As for characteristics... Not sure what to say, probably brown hair, dark brown eyes (that might change to something weird like red if thats an option). Probably not gonna pick the tallest setting for the character this time around.

Given the jaw-dropping artworks of the city states that we will be able to inhabit, I'm at a loss right now. Can't seem to decide between Ul'dah or Limsa Lominsa. The cities all look absolutely amazing, but I'll probably settle for the one by the sea. ><;

Fighter all the way yo! Soon as it branches off into something like SAM, DRG (yeah think I'll make that mistake again), or maybe even PLD, I'll be doing that. I'm obviously also going to be leveling as a healer on the side just so I have some heal spells to help my fighter solo better. As for crafts; I'll probably do Blacksmithing since it sounds like you'll be able to repair your equipment (at least I think so).

Last but not least, I want to thank Elmer and the people here for helping get all this information out to everyone. Keep up the good work. =)

Im torn atm which route I will take. I usually pick male characters however since I wanted to be a BLM, and didnt want to be a taru, I picked Mithra. Depending on how in depth the character creation is might determine what I do, as well as what the stat differences will be. However in the mean time ill just plan on carrying over my current XI character.

What race will you be?

With what characteristics will you customize your character?
Ill try to match my current 8A model, but it just depends on how the character creation is set up.

Where will you live?
Gridania most likely.

What discipline will you follow and within which of its classes will you start?
Again, this depends on future information. I usually pick a DD class, but in XI mages were more appealing, so I went the BLM route. So for now ill go with Disciples of Magic as a Thaumaturge.

As of now I'll probably be going Miqo'te. I've been an Elvaan and Hume previously in FFXI but have grown to despise Elvaan and the new Elezen hasn't changed much it seems, Humes and their new counterpart Hyru are just to plain and boring! Character customization is a bit hard to say atm as we're not completely sure yet exactly everything we can customize but, I'd like a short Miqo'te (if height is adjustable) with green eyes and dark black hair.

The stories of the other two city-states haven't been revealed yet so maybe its unfair that I've already decided to start off in Limsa Lominsa based on it's brief description or a marine city-state with pirates!

I've never been a big fan of the mage/caster, I'll follow the discipline of War and pick an archer/ranger type class. Hopefully ammo wont cost an arm and a leg this time around >.>

GL to everyone that enters to win!

Ruam an Lalafell was described as one of the smaller , intellectual Lalafell.

He is said to have fiery red hair, deep crystal blue eyes and a darker skin tone

due to originally being an agriculturalist inhabiting the fertile islands of the south sea.
With the introduction of trans-marine commerce Ruam and his brothers decided to make their to Eorzea via trade routes.

Enraged by the chaos caused(the fall of the city-state Ala Mhigo) by a new threat that appeared without warning from the east.
Metal-clad warriors brandishing weapons that spewed streams of fire, fleets of behemoth ships belching oily smoke that would block out the sun for days at a time.

Ruam joined alliance of adventures in Limsa Lominsa and trained tirelessly in all disciplines he could.
He spent tireless hours on the bridges and surrounding areas of Limsa Lominsa training so that one day Ruam and his brothers in arms could vanquish the Garlean Empire from Eorzea.

I'm a Miqo'te of courrrrrse. >:3

I want to focus on the healing class offered and max it out first before starting on a melee. I also want to be a "fisherwoman" and cook.

My starting city, out of the three that have been shown, will be either Gridiania or Ul'dah; the decision depends on the government of each one.

As for my appearance, I am hoping to have tan skin, white hair, and green eyes, but I'm afraid tan skin and white hair will each belong exclusively to the opposing tribes.

Ah...healing, fishing, and cooking...

My name is Rigardo, a Roegadyn from Ul'dah. My skin is dark from all the days spending killing the wildlife outside the gates of Ul'dah. My eyes are blue and my hair is shaped like horns. On the way to the mines there are terrible creatures that need to be killed in order for me to continue my duties as a miner.

I plan to play either a Lalafell or an Elzen. I am leaning more toward Elzen at the moment but it really depends on their animations and whether they start with any perks that I want right off the bat. I don't know how I will make them look, but they will probably look as much like me as I can get them to look. Of course, they have to have some kind of outrageous hairstyle.

I will probably start in the wooded city area because I LOVED being in Windurst and it reminds me of that. That city by the sea looks really beautiful, and I would consider moving there as well.

I plan to start out crafting as soon as possible. I will definitely do smithing to repair my weapons and heavier armor, as well as work on my HELM skills and fishing. I really loved the crafting system in FFXI and would like to get a head start this time around instead of being 2-3 years behind when I signed up (PS2 release).

I'll start out with some kind of big 2H weapon and a staff or club to switch to for healing purposes. I may level the healer first to make my soloing easier on the melee so I can change jobs and heal myself to limit downtime. I am REALLY happy the weapons are looking really cool already. Especially the staves on FFXI, the weapons were a bit bland from the beginning. SE has implemented a number of cool-looking weapons recently, but almost none of them are low-level and some are REALLY hard to obtain.

In FFXIV I'll be making a Tarutaru err... Lalafell. At first I was a little iffy about them. They looked very different from Tarutaru in FFXI but the more I've seen the more I've grown accustomed. Maybe I'll be making a female since they look cuter than the males. I could make her a sort of Shantotto clone or go original with something radical like green hair and bright red eyes (if that color's possible). My Lalafell (haven't decided on name yet) would make a living in the city of ancient wood, Gridania. Gridania looks so much more friendlier and happy than the other two locations. Having been interested in mages before I'd like to follow that style, but FFXIV's armoury system looks very inviting. My Lalafell would probably try to specialize in magery but most likely follow many disciplines for maximum flexibility.

Hopefully once in the land of Eorzea, my cute lil'Lalafell will join a Lalafell linkshell and meet other inspirational, skilled, amazing etc cute thingamabobbers <(*^-^*)>

That's if I even play this game XD
I hope so, it looks like a successor to FFXI.

See you other Lalafells and adventurers there ^^/

Despite of being a Hyur from the Midlands, Zryos was unable to assimilate into Limsa Lominsa. With his short stature and scrawny arms, he could rarely find odd-jobs to support himself with.

Cast aside from his well-renowned father and town blacksmith, he found no option but to become an adventurer. Fate must have laughed at Zryos; he inherited none of his father's crafting skill and couldn't keep up with the bustle of the port.

Setting out to prove his father and city wrong, Zryos took his father's sword in hand. He would claim honor or die trying.

I'll pick Hyur since I was a Hume in XI. Probably Sorcerers, although since I was RDM in XI I could lean to Fighters as well. Ul'dah sounds like Bastok in a way, I may live there. Not really a fan of deserts, but I suppose more so than I am for a sea city.

My name is Kaluuki, and I'm a Miqo'te. I'm not the tallest of my tribe; but I'm not short either. I'm definitely a bit of a rarity with my short reddish-brown hair, green eyes and semi-dark complexion.

I was named after my great great great grandmother, who was a fantastic disciple in the dark arts of magic. My friends and family say I have magic in my veins... However, I long to be a great warrior. Somehow it calls to me.

The forest here in Gridania has always been my home, which is why I have set out for adventure and will migrate towards the sea in hopes of a fantastic journey. I long for adventure, and I hope being in a new city such as Limsa Lominsa will help me unveil opportunities to hone my skills as a warrior, and perhaps a magician...some day.

Hello Zam and friends of Zam!!

i luv FFXI and some how surviving the wait for FFXIV!! I been coming to Zam as a lurker since i found Zam lol but could not resist
the invite to post and share on FFXIV ^^

But a lil backround first, hailed from The Federation of Windurst, server ??? :D was a Mithra (^^) 75 RDM / 75 RNG / Alchemist 88+2 crafts @60

So with that i'll say, Day 1 on PS3 i will be there as a Miqo'te Moonkeeper~ Shaman(?) and Archer!! mega-crafter ^^ with perrty green eye's, hair err ?... nice hair thats for sure.. :P , skin pale lol moonkeeper hello~ :D

Not to sure what kingdom to hail from../umm hopefully close or same place as the Lalafells (reason to follow)

I plan on being a Shaman first well according to the lil thingy you said "呪術士 class. It can translate to a couple things, such as witch, shaman or warlock." so i hope to be a Shaman (whm?) first, since it will help me learn and get places fast lol ..i learned my lesson from FFXI ^,~

Then when i get a hang of the new system and game-XP under my belt its Archer (RNG) time ^^ i loved shooting things in FFXI even had a E-bow ~

-Oh and crafting/harvesting is going to be a FULL time job in-between Shaman/Archer ^^ needs the gills for bullets/Arrows ^^

And i wont be alone day 1 , my brother is going to be there too! We both played FFXI on NA launch day and its going to be No different with FFXIV.

My brother was a Taru 75 Nin. from windy aswell hence why i hope to start in same city or REALLY close to him ( we played same room side by side (^^)

So in a nut shell thats going to be me ^^

I hope to see you all there day 1!!!

oh and i see the twitter!! i stalk!! Bret & Cat i iz @iRaz

I want to be a female hume *cough*...I mean hyur. It's hard to say how I will customize my character without seeing the engine but lets just say I like to make my MMO characters cute or silly looking. I will live in Desert city of Ul'dah. I will be primarily a disciple of magic to be a healer, but I am also interested in a FFXIV version of BST.

The tall, silver haired Elezen came forward with lithe steps, gave a curt bow of salutation towards his peers and introduced himself:

"I bid you humble greetings in the benevolent name of the Twelve. I am Tarvion, native resident of Girdania upon this continent of Aldenard; and I recently began learning instructions within the Discipline of War. No offence meant, but I firmly believe that one can only protect those dear to him if he shows exceedingly strong prowess in the arts of war. It is my hope that my passable Gathering abilities will come of some use as I accompany you all on guild quests and most importantly, in seeking out the city-state of Ishgard. May I make one minor request of you...?"

His dark green eyes narrowed as he hesitated and he continued:

"...Should we come across any of my elusive Duskwight brethren, I plead that you allow me a few moments that I may converse with them; for there is so much I wish to learn from their society."

Out of Context Notes:
I mainly played Elvaan Paladin on FFXI and after seeing the new races and cities for FFXIV, I'm leaning towards playing "Elf" once again with a definate weapon & armour progression towards Dark-Knight or any seriously heavy melee class (with hopefully healing abilities added). I'd really like to start in Girdania or Limsa (looks crazy awesome) but Ul'dah has a kind of architecture style that has me very intrested. The quip above is also a blatant nod to the unknown city of Ishgard and I'm kinda thinking FFXIV will have yet another exciting "Let's make it to Jeuno" kinda run.

This is my future FFXIV Character and this is his least that's the tentative plan. Yep. (Concept Art of Rasler by the legendary Akihiko Yoshida) I asked for the Qiqirn to be added in FFXIV since October 2009 and we now have them! Yessss!

My name is Corwin and I am a proud Elezen man. I am tall with darker skin, silver hair and striking green eyes. I am a Cardinal in the faith of the 12 guardians and seek to spread their enlightened words to all of my brethern in Gridania. I am also renowned as one of the most skillful Fencers in Eorzea, using lighter swords such as Epee's and Rapiers and have a reputation for striking and defeating my opponents before they have even drawn their blade..... I must admit between thee and me that I do benefit in this regard with blessings from the gods who saw fit to gift me with an accute understanding of magics to befuddle, confound and slow down my opponents.... and none of them are alive today to cry foul play in that regard and if you speak of my blessing to another soul I will see to it personally that you join my former opponents in the grave.

Hello! Nice to meet everybody. I was a lurker too but now i too want to join in on the fun.

What race will you be? With what characteristics will you customize your character? Where will you live? What discipline will you follow and within which of its classes will you start?

I will be playing FFXIV. I want to use a Miqo'te, brown or red hair, tan skin, blue eyes, Seeker of the Sun, and plan on going with Discipline of War and start off with Gladiator and see where that takes me. May also be interested in trying out Blacksmithing since I was one in FFXI. I would probably start off in Gridnia since I like cities in the forest.

Hey everyone! I'm Hororo!

I may look like an innocent Lalafell but many have found that trying to take advantage of this one is a mistake they wish they'd never made! They never suspect the big blue eyes, the cute blonde pigtails or the innocent smile but many a foe has awoken from their stupor only to find one of my arrows happily protruding from somewhere upon their person!

Lately I've been living the quiet life in Gridania, away from the public eye (and the authorities!) and spend most of my time simply going about my daily life while hunting to make ends meet until things calm down but, make no mistake, soon I will once again venture out into the wider world and it had better be prepared!

I will be playing from the moment this game goes live!

GALKA WAR! Ahem.....Roegadyn fighter! I started in windy last time cause im a total treehugger, but i may start in Limsa this time.

My wife will probably be a Lalafell mage.

Im thinking we will have one of us a crafter, the other a gatherer. I imagine we will start in the same city together to ease trading. I cant wait for the character creation!

I am so pumped for FFXIV. I was up at 4 ths moning reading through the official website over and over.

Once the game does come out, some friends of mine I play WoW with and some friends that play FFXI are going to be rerolling into Eorzea. Everyone kind of has their general idea of what they want to be for our group picked out already. I myself am going to be a Galk... *ahem* Roegadyn fighter, specializing in whatever Defender type Job they decide go with. Dagnus was not very unlike your average Roegadyn in the port city of Limsa Lominsa. A man of the sea, callused hands told a story of years of hard work and long days. Straw like hair dried out from sea spray matted his head, a mess it was. A bushy beard often held trinkets from his previous meal. It was roughly 15 years now, since the sun was choked behind a cloud of gray and black, the low hum of war resounded across the land. 15 years since he hid like a coward, as if his fishing pole could defend his fear. "We need this... our people need this. A war cannot be fought on an empty stomach!" But the truth was, he was afraid. His hands gripped tighter, nearly shattering the pole as his friends pelted him with stones. "You're nothing more than a grazer! You'd rather sit on your tail than defend your own people!"

Friends... he would rather let them go off to die than go fight by their side. I'm sure they wouldn't consider him friend... 15 years has passed now since, and Dagnus still makes his living catching fish and working the docks. His friends of the past now reside in the ranks of the Knights of the Barracuda, Eorea's navy. Alive and well, their life now had purpose. They stood strong against the tyranny of evil, to defend those who needed it. Had it not been for their efforts on the waters, Limsa Lominsa would have long since succumbed to vagabond pirates looking for bounty. They had protected his way of life. His excuse.

The sun was high that day, peaking it's head through rolling clouds of gray. A gentle, cold breeze ushered in the sea; white caps cresting over far below him amongst the supports for the pier. "Your destiny awaits, far beyond this Veil." It was almost as if the breeze itself had spoken. Impossible, he thought. I've been out here too long. He scrambled to his feet in such a rush, he knocked over his bucket of catch. Freedom! They fell back into the white caps, but he had no concern for this or the supernatural at this moment in time. As he made his way back to market, he heard the wind once more. "You've another chance... Somebody needs your help. Go forth with Valor." The most beautiful, soothing voice he had ever heard. He was losing his mind, his pace quickened. Maybe he needed some time off...

I apologize for the crude butchering of grammar, but I am so very excited for this game. I cannot simply create a character and level it. There is so much more I want to feel and get from this experience. I truly cannot wait.

Well... I think I'll be playing a Hyur, or possibly a Miqo'te. My idea is pretty simple. My character has come to the desert city of Ul'dah after wandering for weeks. She can't remember who she is or where she comes from. As a stranger in a new land she'll have to talk to everyone to make new friends and explore every part of the city to find out where she belongs. Since she doesn't remember what her job was, she'll have to try all kinds of new things. Was she good at magic? Was she a farmer or a fisherman? Was she a soldier or a criminal?

I'm pretty excited!

Gonna be playing ffxiv from release (or beta /crossesfingers). I'm not sure what I'll roll this time around, I'm a hume F now. Might try a cat or a lolifell. I'd like something well balanced like my hume though. I like the idea of hybridizing if I want to. I know that if there is anything akin to pup or blu I'll be going that route as those are my 2 favorite jobs in ffxi. Probably use the same name.

Good luck y'all!

Hmmm I will probably play a Miqo'te, background and name are uncertian as I tend to create the character while I'm makeing it. I'm not likely to use a name I have before.
Appearance wise, I like long hair, the longer the better. Ponytail, braid or loose all depends on how I feel when makeing it. I generaly like red or black hair (have a thing for red hair hehe) but am not beyond useing other colors if it just feels better for the character. I'de love to be able to have tatoos but we have no idea if markings as such would even be part of the customisation system.
City will kind of depend on where sis and I decide upon. :P

Greetings stranger, I am Sheska, of the infamous Miqo'te, and I am here to share with you that I am the perfect huntress. I call Gridania my home, where I take full advantage of the surrounding forests. You see, these are perfect hunting grounds for my sisters and I, where we can use the lush, thick woods to stalk our prey. My appearance you ask? I am small in stature, which helps me ambush my prey and foes alike, with great ease. My eyes are yellow, and my hair is white and wild, true distinctions of the nature of my beautiful Miqo'te race. I am known to some as a Keeper of the Moon, as I prefer to hunt at night. The night allows me to track those unaware of my presence, as my nimbleness helps me close in at tremendous speeds.

I have chosen to begin my adventure as a Disciple of War, where I may hone my skills to that of a Ranger, Thief, and eventually an Assassin. I choose these paths to take full advantage of my natural skills, as well as my wild, rogue-like nature. I prefer to always have the upper hand in battle, and these paths allow me to accomplish this. On another note, I have also chosen to become a Disciple of the Land, as the lush forests surrounding my Gridania provide me many things to harvest. The woods allow me to do what I please with much cover and solitude, and this is how I prefer it.

If you happen to hear footsteps behind you as you travel through Gridania, no worries, it is not I. You see, I make no sound at all. I cannot speak for the rest of my sisters. Happy hunting.

Thanks for all the info, Elmer!

I think I have a decent idea of what kind of character I might shoot for, though I can't wait to see the full details about the customization and the gameplay to make my final decisions. Oh, I'd like to opt out of receiving the magazine.

So far I'm leaning towards Roegadyn from Limsa Lominsa. I love the look of Limsa Lominsa and the kind of atmosphere that would accompany a seaside town. I also love the history behind Limsa Lominsa. Of course, it seems to be where a large population of Roegadyn will be located so it will also be fitting in that matter. I want to stray away from Hyur, as I always choose the typical Human race in most MMOs. I really like the way the Roegadyn look as opposed to how the Galka looked.

No idea on the name yet, but my Roegadyn will be a true explorer and adventurer at heart. He will probably focus on the Discipline of War as a master of hand-to-hand combat, if possible. Otherwise he'd feel just at home wielding a great axe or sword to decimate even the toughest foes that might otherwise deny him the freedom of exploring the uncharted regions of Eorzea.

He will dabble in mining or excavating for rare materials, but at home he will spend his days in quiet solitude crafting. He will probably make a rather adept cook and try his hand at smithing of some sort.

Most of all, he will feel the allure of adventure. He will gladly serve to guard other fellow adventurers, either directly (as a tank) or to wreak vengeance on their foes (as a DD). He has no problem putting his own agenda aside to assist his allies if it simply means he can explore more of Eorzea, see rare sights, and face new and exciting challenges and fiends.

I'm hoping to go Miqo'te with the name Volsung. I know it has been mentioned that within races there will be clans that can further effect your starting stats and as for the miqo'te it looks like those will be the seekers of the sun and the keepers of the moon. I dont know what the stat difference will be but I like the lunar aspect more.

The seaside city of Limsa Lominsa has really captured my imagination with the gorgeous illustration and background information. I can't wait until more becomes available on the other towns as well. ( ie Ishgar isnt even mentioned as a citystate on the english website )

I hope to fish in the Disciples of the Land, and melee in the Disciples of War. Im nervous as the class system seems to provide two parts per discipline. I really hope that War offers more than archer and warrior. As a warrior there may be multiple weapons to wield and depending on: sword, scythe, lance, etc. that you may develop differently even further.
