In another thread, I already saw someone shorten Guildleves into GLs, which sounds good to me. What else do you think will be shortened?

Obviously we don't have many names of things yet, but we can start with the races.
My suggestions...

Lalafell - LFs or Fells (I don't particularly want to be called a Lala ;P)
Elezen - Ele sounds good to me (pronounced ell-eh)
Hyur - Meh, already short enough. Hyur is fine.
Roegadyn - Hmm...maybe Roegs, or RDs. Roegs sounds like it would stick better.
Miqo'te - Yay, random apostrophe. Not even sure how to pronounce this one. I like Miq, or Miqo.

As far as the general disciplines, well this seems pretty easy to me. We've got Disciples of the Hand, Disciples of the Land, Disciples of War, and Disciples of Magic. DoH, DoL, DoW, and DoM works for me.

The only city-state so far that really needs an abbreviation IMO is Limsa Lominsa, which would just be LL, or maybe just Limsa.

Anyway, those are just a few things to throw out there. Thought this might be a fun thread. What else can you guys think of so far? Any changes to what I've already suggested? Maybe we could keep this updated as more info is released, as sort of a guide for the future?

How about:

Taru
Hume
Elf
Mithra
Galka
??

Because I know half of us are going to end up using those terms anyways for at least the first few months.

Actually it's called "Libel"... and only if it is fabricated, but hey, you are the admin.

Haha, you're probably right, that'll happen by accident a lot. But for me, part of the excitement of a new FF MMO is learning all the new lore and cool names for things!

Fell
El/Elf
Hyur
Roe
Miqo

And I know this is what will happen with many of the players:

Taru
Elf
Hume
Galka
Mithra

I also have a feeling auto-translate will cover anything else everything.

Elvaan
Hume
Galka
Mithra

None of the new race names seem to roll off the tongue as easily as the previous names. Personally when I refer to them Ill probably say Lala, Elzen, Hyur (Still not sure how its pronounced though), Roeg (like rogue) or maybe Roega (like ruga), and Miqo'te (probably the easiest one to say for me).

Didn't Famitsu list Hyur as Hyuran? Sounds like we already got that abbreviated.

Also I'm going to go with Roega, pronounced 'ruga' (going by the katakana).

Elezen
Miqo'te
Falafel <- Couldn't avoid this bandwagon.

So apart from the Roega, everything else seems easy enough to type out in full.
