I guess the whole world is accessing to this site for the first FF14 hand-on report...

The site is down again.

I don't think we are going to get an update from him till after the playthrough is over. The other issue is the internet/connection where he is at is really slow so its going to be a bit before all his pics are up. Id say give it another 20 minutes before we get much more, but id love it to be sooner :P

Update 9: you cant jump yet, but they are thinking of adding it, graphics are like oblivion basically from what I could tell. Images are being processed

I read some reply on http://www.ffxivcore.com forum and people already crying over no jumping or swimming ? I have to say the least thing in a MMO i care about is swimming or jumping.

You would think that with Square Enix allowing an FFXIV playable demo at Gamescom in Europe that someone would at least take the time to update the official European websites.

I'm a little upset about the no jumping thing yet, but since they said they are considering adding it then there is still some hope. But even if they don't I'll still play the game.

I hope they at least have swimming.

Zyuu mentioned Oblivion-like graphics, which makes me very VERY happy.
I am tired of playing MMORPGs with horrible graphics despite the available technology to create decent ones.
Oblivion is like, what, 4 years old now? Yet so many MMORPGs still give us sub-par graphics.
I am definitely looking forward to Oblivion style graphics...or maybe even better.

Zooming in on the monitors in the images you can see the size differences between 3 characters (I am assuming a Lalafell, Elezen, and Hyur). Those Lalafell sure are tiny...

We also get a tiny glimpse at the UI...although it's very hard to see. It looks like the text box is resizable and has transparency options (maybe). On one monitor it looks large and opaque and in another it's about 1/3 of the size and translucent.

The toolbar at the bottom appears to be somewhat unconventional, but it's hard to tell. I wonder what the black disc is in the lower right hand corner?
It doesn't look like a map.

EDIT:

I, for one, do care about jumping and swimming.
I like to completely immerse myself in the game. I like jumping especially when there are things to jump on and over.

I know I'd be pretty upset if someone came up to me one day and said "Yea...about jumping and swimming...we can't have you doing that anymore."

Sure it's not the main attraction, but it's really nice to have.
Sort of like going to a hotel without cleaning service.

Exactly my thought Theonehio. I love SE for choosing their own path and not listen to people.

Pretty sure that's the ingame compass. Next to that appears to be player status (HP/MP bars)

The toolbar looked to me to be reminiscent of the hotkeys in WOW. There was the prominently displayed Leve in the upper right corner (hope you can shrink that down at least). Beneath that appeared to be party status (HP/MP). To the left of the Leve looks like the game clock, along with what monsters you're engaged with or are able to engage (probably to allow you to easily change targets). You can actually make out the words "Besiege Something Monster" above that, with the names of certain monsters underneath it.

The only thing that I can't wage a reasonable guess is the little quarter circle icon/meter that appears sometimes around the player status and character. Sometimes a word appears there. For now I'm guessing that it's some kind of charge indicator... something that has to do with using abilities, or maybe items.

I'm really anxious to hear some details from people who actually get a chance to play the game.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

My only concern is with the gameplay. The camera is not in a following type mode like it did on FFXI. I really hope they don't adopt WoW's way of changing camera angle and targeting. That was one of the biggest turn offs in WoW for me. I like being able to Tab through mobs, and I like the Camera to follow me naturally when I turn.

But as people are saying, this is still Alpha, so I doubt it will stay like that. These are probably just your "Basic control functions" and what not.

Actually next to the Leve is a countdown timer probably related to the quest associated with the Leve and the mobs needed to be defeated. Kinda like a timed quest.

I can't believe people are crying about ANYTHING! The game is in ALPHA stage and we really don't know much of anything yet, watching a 1:23min video can only tell us but so much. Wait till there is way more info particularly when we are in the final stages of Beta before we start complaining about the game!

If I'm not mistaken you were able to choose between the camera following you or not. I play on PS2 and even played a little on PC (which I prefer but it went to crap) and my camera doesn't really follow me as I turn. I always have to move it manually.

I too am really excited about this. Since this is only a 1:30 video of an ALPHA build it's too soon to get emo and upset. Lets wait until open BETA when things are a bit more concrete to start making a real fuss about it all.

I can't wait for more, and hopefully longer, videos along with some good detailed inforomation about what has been presented to us via the ALPHA build so far in addition to more overall info about the game itself.
