As far as I browsed through the various topics I didn't find any that covered this topic.

In fact I think it's a really important topic that could be discussed a lot :D

Should SE provide more information on In-Game as well as any other relevant Game-Mechanics?

People who played FFXI were alyways trying to figure out that one formula, that says so and so much Accuracy is needed for this, so and so much STR/DEX/AGI is needed to cap out that special Weapon Skill or w/e.

Do you think SE should be giving out more information about those matters? Like at least implementing see-able stats for Accuracy in general or anything else important.

For example Blizzard released Stats for all Classes which state what Stats are "basic" and how they calculate in regards to diminishing returns to higher lvld Mobs etc.
Given that, players were able to do the math by themself and calculate every single stat needed til it was "capped" for the highest lvl mobs.

Should SE go their "traditional" way, or should they start giving more Game-Mechanics In-Sight from the developers perspective?

As for now people still don't know how Absolute Virtue really works...SE is not even considering giving out the Game Mechanics behind that HNM so far...who knows why O.o

You want that to change in FFXIV, or do you not mind it being that way?

What do you think?

I for myself would at least appreciate some In-Sight on Game Mechanics in term of percentage values or anything like that. Like "You got a 87% chance of hitting an enemy the same lvl as you" or something...I don't care how, but I would like some values I can work with!

Transparency has it's pros and cons, just like mystery does.

I think the best solution is balancing the two. Something like, what status effects armor bestows, is always better left transparent. Something like, how to defeat a boss, is always better as a mystery. You can debate the in-betweens of these two extremes, but I personally think FFXI went a little crazy with the mystery.

Keeping the effect food has a mystery, for instance, was more inconvenience than anything else. It didn't invite in-game socialization, so much as out-of-game forum hopping. It's as though they didn't realize we'd have forum communities and a cadre of hackers at our beck and call.

Maybe a little more transparency, but not much.

It was neat having things such as the Strange Apparatuses hidden in the game, instead of having everything spoon-fed to you.

Other things, such as food not displaying what stats they increased... not so much.

What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?
