Cool finally a close upon the UI, it actually looks pretty clean and user friendly, even less clunkier then WoWs.

He casted teleport.......

But I know what you mean.
On the other side, Ranger with visible bow....nice.

The combat log has a lot of text, hopefully they will apply some intelligent filters.

Thanks for sharing

Right when the archer is about to let one go, they cut the scene. What gives? :(

Thanks for the links though, nice close up.

Reason people aren't doing much, is because they don't know how to. They said it requires button pushing and it's not auto-attack, which some are assuming. The magic also likely works that you need to hit a command for it, which they aren't doing.

This is why they shoulda left this in the hands of SE lol, it's fine they're clueless but I think most of the non germans are the clueless ones

I'm convinced people who play at these conventions are really bad.

But now that the video of the interview with Tanaka has come out, it appears that even the game's producer spends most of his time running back and forth among mobs without doing anything. Now I'm not sure what to think. Maybe the combat system really is that slow.

He was explaining things actually, which becomes even more apparent when he pulls up the area map. So being that it's showing an alpha version, chances are it's just not fully refined.

Would be nice to hear what causes the slow combat.. lack of skills, or their cooldown? Waiting for the best opportunity to attack?

EDIT: Because the players fail =/ It's lot faster than that, but you have to spam 1 to attack fast, which the people in the videos obviously didn't do.

Did anyone noticed in the 2nd video that the ranger keep getting her aim interrupted by the Puk's attack?

These were frustrating to watch because the people just ran around like chickens with their heads cut off and when they started to actually attack something the camera cut to a different person running randomly around.

One thing I noticed about the game play on the second video was that the damage taken from the Puks seemed t be very consistent unlike FFXI. Every time the Puk hit one of the characters it took away 1 HP.

I would like some more consistency like this in the battle system where you can more accurately predict how much damage you will take.

did you guys notice how the targeting circle was sometimes yellow, sometimes blue, sometimes both? it looks like you can see your party member's targets. that would be useful.

Soul, the characters were on steroids. Don't expect it to stay like that.

They probably had capped defense or something to keep them from dying in the demo. It's almost always like that when a company is showing off a game.

The german anouncer guys is lame and so is the mage person. As soon as the ranger is going to att he switches the person. When the mage is going to cast magic he moves every time. It's cool their new videos but so aggrivating they have dumb asses playing..lol
But toward the end you can see the Ranger get some shots off.

From the way the terrain is in the first video, they really need to add a jump button or else its really gunna be really annoying bumping into all those ledges or running all the way around a path simple cause you fell off of one.

My channel with FFXI battle music and hard to find songs that were not even released on Original Soundtracks.

I also plan on uploading FFXIV music when the game is released.

USE TAB TO TARGET THINGS, YOU IDIOTS

STOP TRYING TO USE THE MOUSE

God, I might be unusual in that I can pretty much instantly pick up the controls of any game in half a minute or so, but these players are irritating.

I noticed a flash of the map screen for a brief moment.

They were tabbing, you can tell because they were cycling through targets without selecting them with the mouse.

Not all of them, obviously. But the people trying to click the mobs over and over in the videos. Thanks for the ratedown, though.

I'm liking the UI. SE mentioned that it's been much improved since this build of the alpha though, I'm curious as to what they've changed.

Funny how you can tell people are trying to click the mob are not, do you see them clicking? And I didn't do the ratedown, I never use the system since I think it is broken.

It's kind of obvious, as some players, in this video and the others, are continually moving the cursor to the mobs and trying to click, moving away, moving the cursor to the mob again, rinse repeat.

I'm not sure why you're making a big deal about a nitpick I made in jest.

Did anyone else notice the usage of MIP mapping? It's obviously used to a high extent to preserve the impressive draw distance, but it's a bit closer to the camera than I'd like, I hope it's adjustable.

Well personally I hope you don't need to use the mouse to play the game, and the controls stay similar to FFXI, I can't stand to use the mouse in any game. I also hope you can change the camera settings to zoom out and have it follow your character, these demos are making me feel really claustrophobic.

I read in one of the many interviews / comment threads somewhere that the mages were pretty much all bugged and could not cast.
