Don't think I've seen anything about this but, how do ya'll think they will implement housing in this game?

Same as in FFXI?
LOTRO style?
UO style (heh heh, lord no please!)?
Something else?

From some of the early interviews they implied they were going to have moghouses similar to FFXI

I just hope they don't have individual houses for just about every single player.

I think EQ2 did something like this (although I played it a long time ago and I never really used my house). All I remember about it was that my "house" was more or less a secret hidden passage inside a dark labyrinthine mess of intersecting alleyways.

I think the reason I never used it was because I could only find the thing once...when I think I had to at the very start of the game. There were SO many different "houses" and it seemed so poorly organized and so cluttered. I hated it.

I happened to like the Mog Houses a lot because they were in the same place for every person, dependent on your city. I never got lost and never had to maneuver in and out of a maze to get "home".

So, I would love to see housing make a comeback. Absolutely.

I just hope it doesn't get messed up.

Moghouse was the best implementation of a private house I have seen in any MMO.

(being that every player gets one, and it isn't hard to find, and you can do what you like with it, and even have friends visit).

If they want to institute more customizable housing, like a big old fort you can buy... then I hope that is done by the guilds/linkshells, not individuals. An entire group having a fort home I can understand, individual houses for every player just sucks when you consider the actual gameplay that would result.

Give us Animal Crossing style housing. Simple, yet awesome. ;]

I think so, anyway. ;o

when zoning into your mog house, let's not have it a room, let's have it like a regular zone that leads to your house which you can upgrade, have your own actual garden that you can farm (I know Pikko would love that ;D), crafting room, maybe a pond for fishing?, and perhaps your own pet that'll guard your house besides a moogle?

I'm still hoping we'll get an actual house with rooms and what not. A crafting room, a wardrobe room, a decoration room aka living room, some extra rooms for some sort of ingame activities, etc.

I want a combination of the FFXI system and real-house/town systems.

Basically, yes, you have a house out there in the world that you can go to among all the other houses, but when you enter the residential area, you're given the option to teleport directly to your house (actually, from anywhere in the residential area), and when you leave, you can exit directly to the same place.

i.e., imagine if in FFXI you had the option to exit into a residential area where you could walk around and see other people's houses (boring in XI because they'd all look the same, but you get me). And I guess they could include a similar feature as in XI for visiting other houses.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I like the housing in FFXI.

I hope it's not like the housing in LoTRO. The decorating is very limited, too much empty space in the bigger houses. It's just kinda bad.

FFXI housing is stupid. I want it to feel more like a customizable home and it always just felt like an instance with a job change moogle to me, and not very personal.

I guess it's sort of because you're always going into a rent-a-room, and it's not always your house.

Since you'll be able to change jobs anywhere in this game, I don't think you'll -need- to go to your house so constantly like in FFXI for job changing.

So they wouldn't need to give you access to your house in multiple places, as rented rooms.
I think this will make it better - possibly larger houses, or houses that exist among other players' in a town area, that feel more personal.

Anyway, I also like Animal Crossing's. Then again, it's a game that is somewhat built around housing and furniture so the depth is understandable.

But I especially liked how your house size could grow through payments. (adding floors, basement, etc.)

I'm REALLY hoping for some more customization, maybe even of the outside or floorplan options. I would also like to have some sort of minigames added in the form of pinball or arcade machines. I think it would give incentive to visit other peoples' mog houses and spend time in them. A guy can dream can't he?

Currently playing Age of Conan, and although I don't think the games really worth much, It would be neat to see a sort of 'linkshell town'.

I'm kind of fond of Vanguards take on houseing, they are in the open world but only in certain preset areas. The houses come pretty bare and you get to fill it with furniture and decorations, when I played not all the iteams were useable for deco but they just turned into clay cups.

Alot of the houseing areas were set up like little villages with a big spot for a guildhall. One area though, was housing ste up in an old ruined city with most of it's walls still standing.. it was turning into a wonderfull RP comunity on the RP server till they killed the server durring the merges.

I expect something more like XI's moghouses but I realy hope they let us bring friends homes at least.

I really want guild/linkshell housing. Something where the members of a linkshell can all contribute to it's growth.

I loved the HQs from the "City of xx" games. There were days I spent more time fixing up our group's base than I spent fighting stuff. Each member in my guild had their own space in the base, and decorated it to their own liking, and we had a meeting area, teleporters, and item vending machines.

If we get something like this in XIV,or something close to it, I'll be very pleased.

I want chairs we can sit in and beds we can lie down on. Drove me nuts in FFXI that I couldn't just collapse onto my Noble's Bed and sleep after a hard day of adventuring.

Another thing that I think would be nice is furniture geared towards crafting that we don't have to spend craploads of time (and indirectly, gil) acquiring. If you're a smith, you should be able to own an anvil without having to make a bazillion pieces of armor and weapons to earn points to buy it.

Not only that, if this is going to have futuristic elements, then I want a TV. I want to be able to come home after completing some guildleves, sit in my chair, have a cold ale, and turn on Eorzea News Now (ENN) to find out what's going on in the places I'm probably going to have to go tomorrow.

I think it would be cool to have a house where you can store all your items and that sort of thing, like in Monster Hunter

I only played FFXI for a short whiles o I can't really remember the function of the moog house.

I think the idea of big area player houses in MMO's is sort of pointless, unless it incorporates some sort of pvp aspects like capturing guild bases and that sort of thing.

I wouldn't be disappointed if there was nothing more then just the normal moog house

I would assume they will use something like ffxi's. I just want them to be a bit more accessible. Maybe give us a separate item to warp to our mog house whenever we want.

Talked about this in another thread, but aetheryte-powered airships would make great guild headquarters. They don't need to exist in the game world because they're up in the sky, you could teleport to and from them, and you could have the airship drop off your entire guild together for a raid.
