Well, Square Enix released their TGS line-up today, and oddly enough FFXIV is only listed as Trailer...

Quote:
Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection 2: Trailer
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles The Crystal Bearers: Trailer, Playable Demo
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: Trailer, Playable Demo
SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu aka Final Fantasy Legend II: Trailer, Playable Demo
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years: Trailer
Front Mission Evolved: Trailer, Playable Demo
Dissidia Final Fantasy Universal Tuning: Trailer, Playable Demo
Final Fantasy XIII: Trailer, Playable Demo
Final Fantasy XIV: Trailer

This kinda took me back a little, did the devs lie about a demo or is this list false maybe?
What do you guys think? Just a misprint? Or maybe it wont be shown afterall...

Or, heck, the trailer we get here may even be an entirely new trailer. Perhaps the actual opening trailer for the game? Maybe it's a little early for that, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sure, above all else, we will get new information, even if it only comes in the form of interviews where the developers are allowed to mention new facts.

I think Square-Enix themselves are a little more reliable then this source.
The Game controller represents demo, which isn't highlighted for FFXIV

Edit: But thanks for reminding me to put a source up!

I forget when Elmer mentioned it, but I remember one of the interview articles of his saying that it didn't sound like there would be a demo at TGS. Or maybe he told that to me in IRC, I forget. D:

Putting a demo together takes developement time. I'd rather they focus on making the full game. We sure don't want the release date to go into 2011. New details would be nice, especially if there's a beta announcement although it may still be a bit early for that.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I'm hoping for a GT5 release date at TGS!

Unless there are going to be new features to demo, there's no real value in setting another one up. I would rather they spend that time getting closer to beta and provide more information regarding the game itself.

Maybe this new trailer will have some in game action in it. Besides, they have to give XIII some attention too.

Seems a little unfair to Japan that SE would give them the shaft while ze germans get to play the demo.

Because of the amazing success at gamescon, SE has decided to let a bunch of monkeys play a playable demo at TGS! They figure that the more incompetent the players are, the more it leaves all the fans wanting more!

It's not a big deal for me as long as it's a new trailer and new information is released. I won't be in Tokyo.

Id honestly rather have the trailer than a demo on the game floor. There is no closed theater this year for TGS so whatever is shown on FFXIV will probably uploaded to the main site fairly quickly during TGS. Maybe they might show more environments in action or give a sneak peak at what the cities look like in a test render form. From all the info we got at gamescon the most disappointing thing was the demo itself because it was in alpha form and just supplied info on a system that in one form or fashion already exists in several MMORPGs to date. More in your face, cinematic and varied gameplay trailer is just what is needed.

Im more interested to see what is being shown for FFXI since its on the TGS list. Although more than likely it will just be the trailer for the final mini-expansion and details on Vana'diel Collections 2 due out in November. But you never know, something else might come out of it >.>; (Would love for them to announce a new, full expansion to FFXI rather than the stupid mini expansions ; ;)

Trailer is good with me... not like I'll be there to try it out. The last gameshow's gameplay videos didn't titillate me. Of course we'll be able to go out and wack ****. Now if they had some devs doing a demo where they take on a challenging BCNM... That, I'd like to see. Random folks playing for 15 minutes with no idea what they're doing and with no macros, again, does not titillate.

And not to hijack, but what is this FFIV: Years After thing? It's not another DS-exclusive or handheld thing is it? I'd like to play some of those, but they need to put it on PS2 or PS3...

Its the Wiiware (Wii console) version of the mobile platform sequel to FFIV. In other words previously the game was only availible on mobile phones and came in 'episodes'. The game was ported to Wiiware with all episodes in one package, you can get it in the NA through the service these days to I think. Its graphics are designed to look like an SNES game so they really have no reason to include it on any other platform other than maybe the new DSi.

Bleh... I have an aversion to (i) handhelds, (ii) cell phone games, and (iii) Wii. Lately, I've mostly been playing SNES-to-PS1 ports on my PS2...
