What news are you expecting (or want) at the Tokyo Game ShowFollow

With the Tokyo Game Show less than 3 weeks away, a lot of us have probably thought about what news Square Enix is going to release about FFXIV.

So what news do you think Square Enix will release about the game?

Furthermore, what news do you want to hear?

I think that there is going to be an announcement on beta testing sign ups, but I'm not really expecting them to give any dates yet on when it will begin.

I'm also expecting more news on different classes and their associated weapon types.

As far as news that I want to hear goes, I would like to hear a new race or gender options for the Miqo'te and Roegadyn, but I'm pretty confident that there won't be any news like this because I don't think it will happen.

I would also like to see a trailer showing more magic spells and special attacks.

Lastly, I would like to see a world map (or at least what they have done so far).

Edit: There is no question mark in the post title because there was no room for one...

Edit 2: Another piece of news I want to hear: How much are the monthly fees going to be?

Toasting makes me uncomfortable. But toast I love. Never start the day without a good piece of toast. In fact, let's toast to toast.

Fishing. I really want to know what has changed. Will it be a more then a minigame where we actually see the lure underwater and fish following it. Will we have to jig the lure with button combinations to make fish bite? I really hope for more indepth options like a full blown fishing game.

I want to know more about how SE perceive mage, fighting classes, and crafting classes working together and the limitations once hitting "endgame" cap in each of those classes. I mean they are always emphasizing that everyone can be a high level in each class but to master more then one class in each discipline will be extremely difficult. If it means we can only master one class while lowering an already mastered one at the same time in a discipline (see-saw effect) then just say it SE. And if so you better include more then one character slot in an account. Cause I will want to master more then one class in the fighting/mage classes.

I'm expecting some form of big reveal.
I'm expecting information that meant to cater to established final fantasy fanbase, half-expecting it might be information that's shocking in it's own right and not just fanservice.

They're just a bit too early in their Hype Lifecycle to have played their entire hand, and by the time the big game shows roll around next year we'll already know the marketable bits of juicy info (via release, or beta-leak). I suspect SE still has an Ace up their sleeve, and now's the perfect time to play it.

We did in fact get a pretty firm 'No' on Male Mi'qote, but in terms of races Tanaka has been dodging those questions just a little too artfully. So I haven't given up hope just yet. What I would like to see, is one or two new races that are very unique and some in-depth information on what extent our customization options are. I mean this in terms of what abilities can we access in-combat, and what aesthetic features can we hope to see.

Hmm the elusive answer to the race question would be nice. More class info would be fantastic though.

I expect a few more tidbits about the leve system, maybe info about the other two cities and a new trailer.

Edit: OOOOOoo some concept art or character models for the Garlein soldiers would be desireable hehe.

Info on Classes, weapon types and zones.
What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

I want more info on avatars (or whatever they're calling them this time). What I really want is more information on summoner and pet jobs in general.

No petjob for you :P

They already said no petjobs at this time, maybe in the future. Kind of like jumping hehe, though they are still considering swimming and climbing.

1) I'd like to see a video of gameplay of an individual, or group of players, fighting something larger and scarier than a rabbit, puk, or dodo. If skillchains are making a return to XIV, it would be nice to see one.

2) Information on how the FFXIV world economy will work. What crafts are available? Will there be food? I want to fish, garden, and eat.

3) Video with some kind of magic casting, preferably some kind of fantastic nuke.

4) Screenshots or video of various costumes, equipment, and weapons.

Information on the Chocobos, and those flying machines seen in the trailer. And the party system (remember that bubble the mage set up in the trailer on the boat?)

Information on how the crafting jobs will be useful in aspects of the game other than crafting items. (What can a tailor do in a party setting?)

And Magitek armor.

The character creator, and how visually flexible/customizable equipment is.

Curious for more about the job system and how flexible it will be.

Hoping non-combat jobs get lots of love.

Lots more I'm curious about, but really most gameplay concepts are apples and oranges as far as I'm concerned. Implementation is what matters.

I hadn't thought of that, but it is something I expect to see at TGS or very shortly afterwards.

I at least expect the trailer to show us some in-game footage of characters with more variety than what we've seen at Gamescom and on the official website.

I'm not sure if they'll reveal anything about equipment customization, but it would definitely be nice to see.

I'm most concerned about weapons and their corresponding classes.
For example, how will the weapons that a black magic caster uses differ from those of a white magic caster?

...Oshi, what do we expect from TGS?

Well, that's different from the stuff I listed already.

Really, I think we'll probably see the same demo (or something fairly close) translated into Japanese, maybe with a new feature or two? Unless they're going to be showing off something else they've already got in a presentable state, but.

More general details about the game in the form of a presentation or trailer, and possibly a large reveal about something. I don't imagine we're going to get an explosion of information or anything, just expansion on a few topics and maybe a few peeks at new things or one big thing.

I'm hoping as much. I'd like to see a few similar-raced characters with different and good-lookin' features in the same place. Hard to gauge variety as is.

I'm pretty confident the monthly fees are going to be $12.95, it's only a guess of course, but the reason i'm confident is because SE said they want FFXI players to freely choose between FFXI and FFXIV.

If it was more expensive than FFXI, no one from FFXI would touch it, if it was cheaper, I can see people jumping ship.
So i'm pretty sure it'll be the same, or EXTREMELY similar. But again, Just guessing. ^^

Actually, about Displace's comment regarding a fishing minigame...maybe they could use an input based fishing minigame like guitar hero / 'dancing' games (or like Last Remnant's critical offense/defense feature)...wouldn't take much to upgrade the fishing system as it was in ffxi.

Well since they're supposed to be showing some sort of trailer I believe, I want to see some gameplay footage of people who actually know wtf they're doing, not a bunch of characters running around and standing like a bunch of retards.

Since its only going to be a trailer and maybe several subsequent interviews. I would like to get more dynamic in game footage where you see characters walking around in many different environments. Maybe cut scene material and more info on the actual story and lore of the world. I would also like to hear more about the various types of transportations they alluded to in the last interview. Although I don't anticipate it I would like more info on the gathering and mage classes and just how varied they will be. They put up interesting dynamics for melee fighters with position and pattern repetition, now I want to know how they will spice up the mage classes.

Not expecting much else honestly, love to be surprised.

What I "expect" to be shown is...

1. More In-Depth information on the battle system
2. More information about classes and how the weapons correspond to them

Maybe some new environments in a trailer, but that's pretty much it^^
Although thats more than enough for me for the time being :)

What I would "like" to see is...

1. Actual gameplay of a group fighting a bigger monster and maybe a demonstration of Skillchain/Magic Bursts. Would love to see them again in FFXIV
2. Actual gameplay of different classes and demonstrations of weapon usage maybe
3. World Map/In-Game Material of some cities/plains/caves etc.
4. Beta Announcement!!

Well something beside the topic, I could imagine BLMs using 2h Staffs, while WHM type classes might use "Hammers/Clubs/Wands", RDM types could use Fleurets etc.

As for the beta upsigning. I already said it in the GamesCom thread, but you were able to reg. on a computer at GamesCom with the "promise" that you will get infos about the future upcoming beta test with that reg.

Primarily I want to know what we'll have in the way of gameplay customization for our characters (abilities, weapons, etc.).

And like a lot of people, I want to know about new races.

After those, probably want some assurance that battles will be substantially more strategic and epic, rather than small and redundant.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I want to know more about how the crafting system will work. I want to know what upgrades over traditional crafting systems they have implemented to make them feel worthy of being unique classes. I want to know what categories of crafts they'll have this time around.

I want to see them switch through the different disciplines so that they can demonstrate the Armoury System. And while doing this... introduce us to a slightly different setting. The Gamescom setting was nice... but may SE please show us something in the Ul'Dah or Gridania settings?

By switching through the disciplines or switching weapons around, we will have a hint at the possible classes we can make. And having a peek at the other nations would be nice too. With that, I'd be content.

I kind of have a hunch that the reason we haven't seen a character creation demo yet is maybe because there WILL be other races? (or maybe its just my wishful thinking.)

In the mean time, though, I would also really like to see more info on the other "classes"... especially for other Disciplines besides Disciple of War.

I would also like more details on the towns, and maybe some more details about this new Armoury System. I'd definitely like a taste of some of the equipment they'll be offering.

Part of the fun of anticipating an MMO is imagining what kind of character you want to be. So the more details I'll have on that, the more sucked in I'll be.
