Okay, I bought a new Xbox like 3 weeks ago, since my old one fell to the swine flue I mean Red Ring of Death. I took the hard drive out of the old one, put it in the new one, and played all my old saves on Oblivion and Soul Calibur IV fine. But, when I stuck in FFXI, I got a message saying for me to reinstall it to the hard drive. I checked in our hard drive, and I could'nt even find it! It won't even start the PlayOnline viewer before telling me that, and I was wondering what to do.

Thanks.

obviously turn off the system, take out the plug and wait for 10 seconds then plug it back in.

My channel with FFXI battle music and hard to find songs that were not even released on Original Soundtracks.

I also plan on uploading FFXIV music when the game is released.

Did you get the arcade version of the xbox 360? If so, it doesn't include a hard drive.

I think you can probably buy a cheap xbox 360 hard drive off ebay.

The second gen 360's are much more stable than the first...as usual. all though, i never got the RROD ever. My graphics bugged out on my first, and my second is 2nd gen. all you haters :P

/on topic When your original 360 died, it probably corrupted that HD. You may want to use a new one.

The correct answer is that when you install FFXI to your 360HD, the game is also license bound to your specific console. This is done specifically to prevent you from moving your HD to another console and continue playing (god knows why.)

The solution is to go to your system settings > memory > marketplace > and delete the download cache. This will also delete any game updates you've downloaded from the internet.

Then go to xbox.com and log in with your email and password. Search for "license" - the first result will walk you through downloading a new licence for your new system with the old harddrive. The next time you connect to xboxlive on your new console, a download will begin automatically. Problem solved.

Also, slightly related, the install for FFXI does not show up on the memory section of your system tab. I assume that it's to prevent you from accidentally deleting it. It can only be uninstalled from the install discs. This is why your HD is probably missing ~6gb of space that you can't account for.
