After being loyal to fF11 for over 5 years. Then getting my ******* blossomed by them here recently. I've been asking myself I really want to play 14 and give them anther chance?

Starting over from nothing, being a noob again, not having enough gil on hand to even rent a bird.

Will 14 be that much better?

Sounds artistic... I bet it would make a great MFA thesis.

I think if SE did not have the same exact races from FFXI in FFXIV, less topics like this would be created. Think about it, what he is basically saying is that... he should not play because he cannot retain his previous status from FFXI and it will not carry onto FFXIV. Just because the game looks very similar does not mean that it is the same game.

Does it makes sense for status to transfer over from FF7 to FF8? Or Diablo 2 to Diablo 3? Or "Insert Game Here" to "Insert Game's Sequel here"? Different games bro but I suggest you keep playing FFXI if you're heavily content with it. To some people, it seems that FFXIV is going to heavily be casual like WoW and FFXI will retain what small amount of hardcore is left in it.

Who is 'them'?

Also, we will all be newbs when we first start the game.

But the decision is really up to you to make. Are you bored of FFXI after 5 years of playing? I would imagine you have, at the very least, 1 level 75 job (if not several). If you aren't bored of it yet, I can't really blame you; it's a great game, but sometimes change is good.

Did you enjoy your experience in FFXI? Going on quests, getting stronger, exploring new areas, getting rare you want to relive those memories?

Or if you're fine where you are in FFXI then just stick with it.

And asking whether 14 will be better is purely subjective. It will only be better for you if you think it is.
Toasting makes me uncomfortable. But toast I love. Never start the day without a good piece of toast. In fact, let's toast to toast.

I don't believe in good guys versus bad guys anymore… I only see a plethora of states acting in self interest… with varying ethics and moral standards of course, but self-interest nonetheless

Newer versions of a game allow much improvement over the last. Many things. Also it allows a reboot to the community. I quit over 5 years ago and so have my friends... The reason we have not returned is due to the age of the game. Although i would like a "fresh" start. Having alot of players adventuring alone side me, discovering new things. Also this time allowing more users on consoles to be introduced to FFXIV. because I was introduced to it by accident. I bought the PS2 hard drive for Socom. Not alot of people gave up 100 bucks for the HDD. Although with PS3 internal drive... maybe FFXIV will have a larger mass of addicts.

That's.. the best thing about starting a new game?
We really want to compete against World of Warcraft and for example the new Star Wars MMO.
