I'm quite interested to see if they will or won't decide to put this on the 360 platform. I'd be disappointed if they didn't (since i play ffxi on 360)

I'd figure since they'd put it on PC (Microsoft Windows) I know Mac would be part of PC but I just put that out there since Xbox 360 is made by Microsoft.

You'd figure they'd have it on both.
And I'm not 100% sure but I believe there is a huge population of people who play FFXI on Xbox 360.

Discussion? Opinion?

Please keep vulgar comments to a minimum lol

This has already been heavily discussed. SE said they were having problems getting the game to work with XBox Live's policies. They will work on it but a 360 version will probably be at least a year later.

I hope SE sticks to princples and refuses to release FFXIV on the 360 to only gold customers. MS tried to force PC users to pay a fee for LIVE services as well and gamers completely threw it back in their faces. It's about time someone stood up for console gamers as well.

I don't really care that they charge for online play on consoles. What ****** me off though is how annoying it is to cancel my subscription. What the **** is up with having to call to cancel it? I know MS are moneywhores, but yeeesh.

When it comes to wether or not I think it should be released on 360, well... all I care about is not having to worry about "whateverconsole-limitations". As long as 360 won't limit the game more than PS3 would, I don't care... why not have it on 360 as well. Otherwise... no thanks.

I have a 360 now, but I'm going to sell it and get a PS3 when XIII comes out for the sole purpose of playing XIV on PS3. It may be an illegitmate fear, but I'm afraid the graphics won't be as nice on the 360. The screen shots I've seen so far are amazing, and I don't want to lose that.

I'm at a point where I get to decide. My 360 went bhlao several months ago, after which I tried playing on my old PS2. After HDTV and 360, it was disappointing to say the least. Then I just got tired of the same old same old of FFXI and decided to quit altogether.

Now with 360 Elite and PS3 both being 300 bucks I have to decide on which console to buy. I'm leaning towards the PS3 mainly because I think it has a better future.

360 Elite positives and negatives:
Can play the games I currently own.
Can return to FFXI if I choose someday.
Can play Dust when it comes out.
Can't play FFXIV when it comes out as things stand now.
After 3 returns and a final out of service death, not real happy about 360 reliability. Even though people say the Elite is much better.

PS3 positives and negatives:
Can play Dust when it comes out.
Can play FFXIV when it comes out.
Better reliability than Xbox.
Can't play my current games
Can't play FFXI if I decide to return.

I don't have a massive library of 360 games, only a few. But they are ones I really like. At this time I have no desire to return to FFXI (playing Eve atm), but that could change. So, as things stand I am leaning towards PS3. If SE makes an announcement about releasing FFXIV on Xbox in the very near future (going to make decision real soon) then I might change my mind.

Addendum:
Before anyone mentions fixing my old 360, already done the RRoD fix, towel trick, etc. and it didn't work.

Yep, SEs main Market is Japan. Just a minor point, though: I doubt this includes China or Korea, or the rest of Asia. And while we are at it: I agree they did not - in the past - consider US/European tastes before the Japanese taste.

(Actually there is one exception, which failed horribly: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - there, they tried to adapt to what they perceived to be US taste. The horror.)

Then again, I sincerely hope they never will. Not to sound racist the other way round, but: the world is full enough of Hamburgers and CocaCola already. And I do like Hamburgers and CocaCola sometimes. But I am quite happy with some sushi for a change. Some real sushi. Not rice with mustard and a steak on top. I guess you understand what I mean ;)

That`s my share of the off-topic ranting I guess.

This is of course my own selfish, biased and somewhat racist opinion... and I might have just ranted sh*t that's totally unrelated to what the OP was talking about... yeah...
