According to what I read (and if memory serves correctly) it's a blatant part of the character's backstory, and because the character tends to dress scantily, I think there may be a visible bulge.

I'm prepaired to get rated down for this but:
Who cares? If you don't like it then don't play it.
Whether I like it or not, or whether It even matters! This is a step in the right direction when you think about it.
***, ******* and Transgender/Intersex people are so seldom seen in any form of representation they may as well not exist.

They do, and they're people just like us. Personally, I'd pick a game if the storyline was pretty decent and it was about one of the topics listed above.

I'm so tired of the "Only this exists" stigma in video games, and then parents getting ****** when it's represented (Bully, Fable1, Fable2)

I mean, I can whole heatedly understand why they would get ******* I can easily put myself in their shoes, but it's so **** sad how the world works..

Anyway, I rambled, back to the topic, not only is this not much of your business (Are they demanding you buy or play this game>) but it also has stupidly little to do with FFXIV. But if you feel the need to make an irrelevant thread, I may as well give you an answer. The Answer is no, it wouldn't be in FFXIV, why? Cultural difference. Probably okay in Japan, but you have to realize that the US is so uptight that any sort of mention is gonna draw protest and public parental outrage (Even though kids shouldn't be playing MMOs like this anyway.) They're trying to market this to a very very wide audience. Something that flies in one country isn't gonna fly in another.

fyi, I don't think interjecting random consonants into English words necessarily counts as Engrish. Not that futanari is Engrish anyway. afaik that's what most English-speaking people (who are moderately aware of its existence) call it.

But if you have something that rolls off the tongue a little better than "chicks with ************ I'd like to hear it, preferably without splicing in extra letters.

Or wait, I know. Maybe you're mad because you didn't know what it meant, and so you googled futanari while at work or on your mom's computer. Bwehehe. Even if you didn't, thinking about it amuses me.

I've changed my mind. My 6k post is going to be an effort to get people to unknowingly google futanari. Nobody thwart my efforts. I mean it yall.

Hermaphrodite is the standard english term. And I don't want to start a big argument but the OP did come off as 'see I know this japanese term!' Especially with your clique-ey inner circle reference instead of just coming out and saying what you meant.

Hermaphroditus was the son of Hermes and Aphrodite in greek lore that became fused with a nyph and ended up having both genders simultaneously.

Well, while hermaphrodite is probably technically correct, futanari carries a distinct connotation of a female with a ***** (though looking at it, the wikipedia has not so nice things to say about this tendency).

But regardless, it's fairly common to refer to ***-related themes by their Japanese terms, where they often originate and may never adopt an accepted western literation. e.g., bukkake, paizuri...

Honestly I just assumed that most people already knew what futanari meant. It's not like our language isn't comprised of countless other adopted foreign words.

I didn't really think it was that "clique-ey" considering that it was an obvious reference to a recent announcement about an upcoming SE game to anyone who heard about it. Which considering this is a forum dedicated to a SE game, I thought it might be more than it apparently is.

Which I find to be unnecessary. I could have easily just accepted that she was all mannish because of the demon, and she wore skimpy clothes because it's Japanese, but they got to take it a step further and tack a ***** onto it. How is her having a ***** vital to the story line, unless she impregnates someone, or herself (that would be crazy)? Also what does being possessed by a demon have to do with having a *****. I'm betting the person who wrote this part of the story line was some chick wearing wolverine steel toed boots.

Not all details of a story have to serve to advance the plot outright. And really, I'm sure it does influence the plot to the extent that the character's motives and thoughts differ as a result.

Though I'm sure a large part of it is fan service to the people who are in to that. But you can't really call that any less necessary than making female characters with tons of visible cleavage.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Because everything else concerning demon possession makes sense, right?

True visible cleavage is not necessary, but it it’s blatantly obvious why it’s there.

I suppose it would seem less like some obtuse tid-bit if it was blatantly obvious she is packing some bulge. If it's for fan service I suppose I'm saying go the distance, don't try to subtlety squeak it in there. It just makes it seem like they're a bit apprehensive about it, which makes it awkward, they need too just own it.

It does in context. Like in a land made entirely out of candy it makes sense to have lollipop trees instead of poo tainted sticks.

Her having a ***** which makes her want to dress more feminine to compensate for it, then undoes the whole point of the dress attire to act mannish. This is just a poor excuse for not giving her a visible bulge. It's inconsistent and there for awkward, and I’m talking about the whole character not just *****. And your right allot of the plot has not been laid out, but anyone can write plus she has a ***** on a character bio. I just want to see them own it or scrap it.
