So I've heard chocobos will be part of FF XIV but will have a new role compared to the one they've fulfilled in past games.
Taking into account what developers have said about the new weapon system where "jobs" will be implemented through the use of weapons rather than classes, I got to thinking on a possible use for chocobos other than transportation. If the class system will be mostly dependent on weapons and we'll be able to change classes-weapons on the fly that means that we'll have to carry a lot of equipment. This leads me to believe that chocobos might be our "gobbie bag" in which we will store weapons and armor (items too i guess) in order to make the armory system effective. Space might not be unlimited but I think it should be bigger than the starter bag in FF XI; quests to increase its size might be possible too.
Where I got the idea was from the trailer for the game, specially the part where you see the three adventurers walking towards the edge of the cliff. Notice that they are indeed not ridding chocobos; however the galka is pulling a chocobo which is carrying a big bag and various weapons.
This is just a thought of mine and we will know know the truth when the game comes out but still I think it's still a decent idea even if it ends up not being true. What do you guys think about this subject do you have over theories about the new role of chocobos?
