I haven't played FFXI for 4 years before I started again with a trial account. I bought the 2008 anniversary edition and was ready to start playing again. Then I received an error with all my credit cards. It stated that I didn't have SecureCode. After researching online for the past 3 hours. I noticed this whole new policy SE made, requiring all players to register with a SecureCode or Verified by Visa Credit card.

I am not the only person that is having this issue. Although it's definitely going to prevent my return to FFXI.

My question to you guys is, if you think SE will continue this policy in FFXIV. I mean my cards do not offer this option, so couple of yours might. Will this affect your possibility to join FFXI?

Will this affect a large User Base trying to join the game.

I may not apply for a new card, since its sort of good to manage your credit with only 2 credit cards. Applying and canceling cards greatly affect a persons credit. So will I affect my credit with FFXI when my student loans are doing that already... its a confusing matter.

I was able to play for a while using an AtiraCard prepaid visa giftcard from my credit union until I had a working debit card when I returned back at the end of May. It was a pain in the *** to get it to go through though.

The only reason I can think of why SE hasn't started selling prepaid cards themselves is because people pay extra per month for additional characters/services. It would be nice if they did sell them and allow you to transfer balances from one to the next though... I walked into 7-Eleven the other day and noticed that there's prepaid cards for almost everything under the sun these days... WoW, Maple Story, Gaia Online, even Free Realms.

Yeah I'm looking into prepaid credit cards, although that whole verified with visa and secureCode could prevent actual players from joining in. I could understand if it was to control RMTs. Although to take one RMT off they may be keeping 1 legit player off also. I hope if ffxiv does come out... the PSN wallet could be one payment method.

I mean its easier to sign up for WoW than FFXI... SE definitely needs to fix this for ffxiv release.

I remember someone writing something about paying for FFXI as part of their XBox Live account bill. I don't know how that works or if it's true, but if something similar could be done with PSN, that might help some people out.
