WeaponClass System limitationFollow

The Thought occurred to me that in order to limit the number of 'Active Classes' a player can use on the field in FFXIV all the developers will have to do with their new system (based on weapons) is limit 2 weapons per inventory or possibly even rely on the classic limited inventory space to carry only enough gear for 1-2 classes (and that not leaving much space for loot).

This info is un-sourced, the idea just popped in my head.

I'm pretty sure they have no plan in limiting the number of classes you can switch to and certainly hope they never will.

I'll refrain from a number of insults directed at the ideas you suggested but let it be known they exist in large quantity.

From the interviews they have given they seem quite happy to not limit our ability to change weapons at any point other than midcombat.

While the idea would be interesting if they were planning such, it seems to go directly against what they are working on.

Yeah, my guess is that wouldn't sit well with many. In fact I think it would be in their best interests to let people switch specialties at will outside of battle. I'd imagine people delving into many things just to be prepared, well, I would anyway.

My guess is it'll be like when you change gear in Ballista or Brenner in FFXI. There'll probably be a short period of time where you can't do anything after you change classes.

I don't see any reason for it. What is the basis of your premise?

Well, i have a question...

If you are in a party (5 guys), and when things goes wrong and the only one that survived was the tank so he could be able to switch weapon and become a healer, cast raise on party members and then switch back to tank class?

Is that correct? Or i am missing something?

From what I've read, this sounds right to me. I think the idea is that you shouldn't be able to change classes DURING battles without getting your *** kicked in the process.

I don't mind that, unless they add one sword with Dispel, one sword with Refresh and one sword with Cure, because it is very annoying to be restricted to just a limited part of what you'd expect to be able to do.

My only concern with this system is that the equivalent of Whm will be required by some groups as a last resort Raise option. I'm going with LoHD though that there would be some kinda delay in action from changing.
