Ok. 2010 is almost here, and SE have not given us any new updates on FFXIV for a month!

wassup SE???
give us something to be excited about for this holiday season!!!
im checking ZAM and bluegartr and the official site everything trying to see if there are new info, but no, nothing, nada :(

just some new info on the mobs or weapons for the other classes would be good enough.

:(

Looks like a cash shop is inevitable.

Looks like my interest in XIV is decreasing rapidly.

If you guys read everything BUT the beginning of that thread, it says:

Quote:
It could be everything from a miss translation of a point he was trying to get across, to him being confused about the development itself, to us simply not understanding exactly what he means. So please don't panic!

Chill.

yeah i was reading that thread as well.

but since they are making at least 15bucks a month from the players... making a cash/money shop to sell in game items just to make a little more from the players is kinda stupid, they will just end up losing the player base...

but anywayz, go back to the topic... let's not talk about Wada in this thread, since he's not fromt he development team...
the published date was set in "2010", so they better give us more details before the new year comes!!

It seems like most like to spread the info through Famitsu first and then update the FFXIV site. Is Famitsu a monthly magazine and has the next issue been translated already?

If it is monthly and the next issue hasn't come out yet, I would expect to find some FFXIV goodness in that =O

hopefully if theres a cash shop it'll only be for cosmetic crap and consumables. IF thats the case then its no prob at all. But I'm fairly sure it's a communication breakdown somewhere. I doubt Square's going the cash shop route.

I think you guys are blowing this whole cash shop thing way out of proportion. I don't see anything wrong with charging a nominal fee for additional content, or novelty items. And it's certainly not the kind of RMT we've seen in the past in FFXI.

well for one thing, what do they chose as content to add and witch to charge. with the monthly charge you would think it would be enough for them to add continuous content forever. personally every holiday event, we got some kinda reward that was a costume, it was free, but every year was the same. they could easily add a new one every year but instead will probably charge for them if this would be the case. so when are they creating things for us to add to the game as content or when will they be trying to suck us dry for a few more dollars?

i would rather it be this though then any other possibilities they can sell, since these are things that wouldn't effect the game. but exp, buffs and gear and so forth (witch i doubt SE would sell or do to us) would be out of the question and ruin the game in every way.

but again i would like to see this game fill with content, lots of it, more then the content that ffx11 had. and if a few bucks towards some dress for a lalafell or a tail scrunchy for a Miqo’te gives SE a bigger bankroll towards filling up the world with way more content then so be it. but personally i believe the monthly should be enough.

I don't get it. When the devs were asked if they would rather make it so players spend real cash to purchase digital content in game, they replied with a solid "no" because it would drive away the players from the game in a few short months and they want their players around long -- furthermore they went on to talk about monthly payments and how this was the route they're going to take. So where is this "in game items for cash" talk coming from? For one, i doubt this would happen ON TOP OF monthly payments, if they're doing this then they'll scratch the monthly payments all together. Second, if they do this, they lost me as a player which is unfortunate because i'm looking forward to this game.

I hope so and they better have something.
there are lots of contents missing at the moment, and if they dont release more info by the end of the year or start of 2010, I will think the game wont release until after Halloween or even postpone to 2011....

They're releasing a huge website update and starting beta as a Christmas present for all of us!

Oops, should that have been on the Wild Speculation Thread?

I'm almost positive now that FFXIII is out in Japan we'll be hearing some updates on FFXIV by the NA region release. I highly doubt FFXIV will be released until Xmas of 2010 anyways. Some experts predict early quarter 2011 because of SE's track record. I realize some people don't seem to understand that FFXIV is the next chapter in the Final Fantasy series. It's not just the next chapter in MMORPG history. Let FFXIII have some exposure for awhile. We'll be hearing tons about FFXIV after the NA launch of XIII in March. It makes no sense to saturate the web with news and pics of FFXIV when SE is still pushing FFXI, FFXIII, and those other projects on various systems.

I'm sure there has been some misunderstanding in regards to legal RMT -- if i remember correctly when SE (a rep, can't remember who) was asked about whether they would make the game free and charge for in game items, he responded with a "no, we would lose our player base, and we want them coming back for more." (more or less) and hence "we're going with the anniversary payment method similar to FFXI's payments." (again, more or less). Either this, or i'm hallucinating.

The dev team were adamantly against any sort of RMT, official or otherwise, stating that it would be very poorly received by players and it would also wreak havoc with any sense of game balance.

A few people here are overacting and fear-mongering as per usual and are trying to convince others that it will be more than cosmetic items with no actual in-game value.
