Maybe I'm overdue for a trip to the optometrist, but the graphics don't look substantially better than the graphics for other recent and upcoming eastern MMOs. Beautiful, yes, but nothing to froth at the mouth over. Then, art has always been more of a concern to me than graphics, in which case I still think the art is good, but not great.
I guess I just don't understand why people are getting all excited over this, but I should probably just stfu and stop being a buzzkill.
It impresses and excites me more as a CG and texture artist than anything else. MMOs always tend to be fairly
low poly and rather limited on the shaders and ambient occlusion and other bells and whistles, for performance reasons.
You don't have to froth over it, but it's still a pretty impressive feat. (Assuming, of course, that the game runs lag-free online with multiple actors on screen.)
Assuming you're talking about Aion, it IS a pretty game, but a lot of the art design and direction leaves muuch to be desired, in my opinion. Aion Vision seems like it will be adding a lot of nice graphical tweaks to the game, but who knows when that will be coming out. Edited, Dec 18th 2009 3:32pm by Kirbster
