As we all know after the XI's beta, all of the testers had to create new characters if they wanted to continue playing. After the beta finished I was a level 30BLM/WHM (I wasn't too hardcore), and when the game was released I created a new character and kept playing.
A while later, I ended up deciding to cancel my subscription because I was going to college soon and didn't want an MMO to affect my grades. However, a few summers later I found myself bored and installed XI again to kill some time. I was planning on taking advantage of the "Return to Vana'diel Campaign" to recover my character. After filling out the form/application I was brought to the screen where I could choose an old character to "revive". Sadly I had deleted my original character, and then created a new character over him with the same content ID at one point, so the tech support people said it was impossible to get my original character back... It was a sad day. (anyways, that's kinda a separate story... back to my main point)
As I was looking at the screen with a list of characters I could revive on it, I noticed that the character I created in the beta was listed. Same name, same character type, same hairstyle. It was the same character that I had played with in the beta.
If XIV has a similar campaign to the "Return to Vana'diel" campaign, there might be a chance that a similar thing could happen.
Has anyone else heard/experienced this?
