Possible way to keep your beta characterFollow

As we all know after the XI's beta, all of the testers had to create new characters if they wanted to continue playing. After the beta finished I was a level 30BLM/WHM (I wasn't too hardcore), and when the game was released I created a new character and kept playing.

A while later, I ended up deciding to cancel my subscription because I was going to college soon and didn't want an MMO to affect my grades. However, a few summers later I found myself bored and installed XI again to kill some time. I was planning on taking advantage of the "Return to Vana'diel Campaign" to recover my character. After filling out the form/application I was brought to the screen where I could choose an old character to "revive". Sadly I had deleted my original character, and then created a new character over him with the same content ID at one point, so the tech support people said it was impossible to get my original character back... It was a sad day. (anyways, that's kinda a separate story... back to my main point)

As I was looking at the screen with a list of characters I could revive on it, I noticed that the character I created in the beta was listed. Same name, same character type, same hairstyle. It was the same character that I had played with in the beta.

If XIV has a similar campaign to the "Return to Vana'diel" campaign, there might be a chance that a similar thing could happen.

Has anyone else heard/experienced this?

I didn't get in on the FFXI beta but I was talking to my brother about this. How cool would it be to get a head start by getting inside the beta. When everybody starts playing, you can help them out and give them the ol' FFXI welcome.

I was given one by some high level dragoons. They helped me out with the dragoon quest.

I do remember the Japanese players being helpful. One of them traded me a flower. I was confused for a while, but I soon found out that it was for the moghouse exit quest.

Considering the "Return home to vana 'diel" campaign didn't start until some 4-5 years after FFXI was released, i don't see this as an option to sneak your beta character into live servers. It may be nostalgic some day though.
