Nice find, I wish they had included more with those scans. Parts seem to be missing, but light may be shed on that issue soon.

I see some possible nice customization people have been after.
Thank you.

Rememmber that with every update in Famitsu, the NA site gets updated, I think Famitsu issues are released on Thursdays? so maybe we'll be getting an Xmas present from SE in the form of info's. Look at the last page, it Says "intervie" on the side, maybe theres a few more pages with an interview that the guy didnt scan because of lack of photos?

Scantily clad Hyuran females, if I may add.

Looks like hair color, skin tone, and starter equipment color is going to be more customizable than in FFXI.

I hope they make all equipment customizable or at least add a few selectable color palettes to each item. Seeing every body in the same job wearing the exact same armor was one of my least favorite parts of 11.

Also, no more complaining about a lack of dark skinned characters. I might actually play a Hyuran now! ^^

Not to be a party pooper, but Square Enix could've given us something a little more meaningful...

I mean, it's great that we get to actually customize our characters in XIV, but it's nearly 2010 and plenty of MMORPGs have had options for skin tone, scars/tattoos, weight, height, etc. It's kind of depressing that they even think these features are worthy of being shown off at this point

Look, we add brack girl! We not racist! We ruv Obama!

lol.

I for one don't really care about customization. Sure, diversity is nice, but rememmber that the more options there are to customize you're character, the lower the quality of the character models -generally speaking-. FFXI has some of the best looking character models of any MMO, especially for its time, alot of that can be attributed to its lack of customization.

Also, I've been dying for info on the other cities, why can't SE do a simple write up on the site? surely theyve got the general stories behind each done by now, but the other two still say "coming soon".

But yea, SE kinda has us by the balls, and like most of you, i'll take anything i can get. so with that i say: customization. cool.

I have no comment to the above. Simply reposting it so you (Poubelle) can read what you type. Just look at it. Ok thanks.

Actually MMO's steer away from this functionality because it means heavier load in which is death for anyone on a lower bandwidth than the Japanese. They haves the quick internets. Us poor Australians have some of the slowest internet in the world so yeah, hope it's not too detailed :) Your comments simply pang of someone that doesn't understand how games are made, and I mean no disrespect by that.

We don't know what we can customize with the characters are we can simply suggest to one another that they allow skin tone, height, weight etc. Also note, single player RPG's that allow for good customization do so because they can without worry about load in for other players. It's a difficult balance really... pretties vs. accessibility. Tricky stuff but yeah those pics look awesome... the fabric on the taru's gear has me mesmorized.

I hate Aussie internet but I still would like quite a bit of detail put into the character designs to make the game look a little nicer. Doesn't really cause that much more traffic either.

yeah photobucket is way better than imageshack

these customization impresses me, I really hate to see triplets or quadriplets in Jeuno or even in the same party.
I hope they give at least like 20-25 hairstyles at least 5 to 7 hair colors and skintones to choose from

if they want microtransactions to be involved in FFXIV, they could make us pay 5USD to change our hairstyle/color in game, but you can't change your look or race.

It is going to be quite awhile until we get to play the final version if this game. Do you honestly think they are going to give us every detail of the character customization system in one article? There is probably a ton of stuff they haven't shown us yet.

Every time I see new pictures I just get more excited. This game looks beautiful.

Some players like Aesthetics more than others.
That doesn't mean it's bad information, it's just not the kind of information your interested in.

I'd like to think they're showing us this less to tout the wonderful innovation and more to get some kind of marketing value from it before Beta hits. Typically, the nitty gritties on Character Creation is some of the first information leaked.

I'm a huge fan of Aesthetics, and even I'm not too concerned about how vast the selection of facial tweaks is. Really, at the end of the day, you don't see things like scars in your day-to-day gaming. Your typically seeing your character's back and sides from a fair distance. How much you can customize your Armor is what's really going to get me excited. If SE does a 'meh' offering for character customization but pulls off something really innovative for armor customization, I'd be a happy camper.

It's been said already, but I think it needs to be said again: Camel toe. That is all.

Well, okay, I'll give a bit more than that. It looks like a well-rounded (pun intended) package of customisation options. Hope they dish out a download version muck about with, like the old web version of the character builer for FF11.

So far so good from what I see. I hope they give many options so just like the most of you have said ... We won't have tons of the same character running around. I hope they make it to where you can tell who a player is just by looking at them.

That would rock, but even in XI I was able to spot my friends running around. It really is more of a size + armor combination... the little details like scars and what not are pretty much useless because by the time you'll see them clearly you'll already see their name scrolling in front of you.

{I don't know how to answer that question.} Marketing for ffxiv will be conducted when it's ready to be released and that will be worldwide.

The same reason why FFXIII has ad banners the length of a train station. RPG's are cool in Japan, while only a niche market in the NA region. I'd be happy for ANY coverage on IGN at this point. I'm not holding my breathe on G4 or w/e it's called now. I really hope that SE follows suit like WoW and has celebrities endorse FFXIV, that was cool. I love to see Picard(Patrick Stewart) on FFXIV commercial with the Hume tattoo model.

They are trying to focus their advertising on FFXIII first. When I was in Downtown Los Angeles for the Anime Expo, back on July 4th, they had a huge FFXIII ad that spanned across 3 towers of a hotel. So it's not like they aren't doing any advertising in the US. We will probably see TV ads once FFXIII gets closer to release over here.

Here is a photobucket link to the picture of the ad I took:

Bravo Square~Enix! Now this is what I'm talking about. I still remember the advertising for FFVII. It blew my mind that FF was on the radio and TV. Let's hope this is a good sign for FFXIV.
