Just watched a trailer for a new mmo called the secret world and man does it look awesome. After reading more about it I'm really excited about this game, maybe even a little more the ff14. I wonder which one I'll pick.

I hate to be a buzzkill, but I'd recommend that you put a damper on you enthusiasm for The Secret World a little bit. I love the concept for the game and all, but it's being produced by Funcom, fresh off of a big failure with the Age of Conan MMORPG. I haven't played any of their games, but I know that they've got a bad reputation, especially for aiming big and falling woefully short on promises.

That being said, I'm keeping up on the game as well. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Age of Conan was one of the few times I've ever felt scammed after buying a game.

Actually, it's being developed by the team who made Anarchy Online a while back. This team had absolutely nothing to do with Age of Conan and see it as a failure.

FinalFantasy XIV is the obvious choice.

The Secret World is the obvious choice. Sheesh, what did you think this was, a FFXIV forum or something?

I've been keeping up with Secret World as well and want to hear more about it but I highly doubt I'll even play it. Blindly, unfortunately (because this makes me a hypocrite but meh), i'm going with FFXIV and if it turns out to be a crappy MMO then so be it, i'll pay the price, but I know i'll love it just as I do every FF game and just as I did FFXI. So for me, its FFXIV hands down...Secret World looks cool though (in concept thus far anyway).

Blade & Soul is looking alot better, it's the only MMORPG other than ffxiv that has caught my complete attention.

Never heard of Balde and Soul 'til now and i got to admit that game is pretty good looking but from the video I saw it looks more like a multiplayer online fighting game -- i'll be keeping an eye out for it too but unfortunately i'll probably have to stick with FFXIV since i've pretty much committed.

Yeah, it's sort of like a unique hack n slash type but there will be both PVE and PVP. I think in those trailers that everything shown was in game gameplay, everything from jumping really high to running on the side of the buildings.

Blade and Soul looks amazing!! @_@

If it's as good as it looks, I might have to reconsider FFXIV

Yeah, I know I'm bumping a sub-defaulted thread, but I figured I'd put this up for anyone who was curious:

There's some more info up about The Secret World at Gamespot. It's a developer interview and a short vid.

You can check it out here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/thesecretworld/news.html?sid=6248845&tag=topslot;title;2&mode=previews

Now, I realize that this is the FFXIV forums, but seeing as how the game isn't even out yet, I don't see why there's any harm in one thread that talks about another potential game. I mean, the FFXIV ZAM homepage has articles talking about Star Trek Online and Mass Effect 2.

So about the link: I have to say that Funcom sure does a good job in their pre-release marketing. I got suckered in to Age of Conan early on (though I didn't buy the game after reading the reviews). The Secret World is managing to do the same thing, despite my initial skepticism. I'm definitely paying close attention to this one, and hopefully beta test it, but no matter what I'll wait and see how it fares on release before I buy.

My channel with FFXI battle music and hard to find songs that were not even released on Original Soundtracks.

I also plan on uploading FFXIV music when the game is released.
