Hello people, my great prediction/speculation will be an update on the offical site today, probably within 6 to 30hours!

What backing me on my point is, they have removed the "NEW" icon next to the sections with the last update on the official JP site.
and since it has been 3 weeks since that last update and today is the 14th!!! Im assuming probably around 5pm we will see the new update!!

will the new updates be....

New City-States and Discpline of Magic/Land
Beta invites???

(dont blame me if we dont have them today or tomorrow! it's a prediction!!)

Forgive me, I meant real updates, which come weeks before site updates, pop up in the AM. No one cares about site updates because they have already seen it a week or two earlier.

There hasn't been a single update on the official ffxiv website without there being leaks from famitsu a few days before and the website usually updates on wednesday, definately not this week but maybe next week it will update.

Misleading titles are aggravating. You have no evidence other than your gut which suggests there will be an update today. I'm not saying its impossible for today, but there's no need to state "Update today!" in your title when you really are only predicting an update.

I dont remember the beta sign up was included in the Famitsu though, even though seems like SE will provide the new updates to Famitsu and then update the site.

and even it's just a small update on the site can cause any of us excited. perhaps they will add a minor update to the contents or something, doesnt necessary to have everything leaked by Famitsu.

and this thread is just trying to bring everyone's excitement to the next level as im sure some of you are as excited as me and cant wait to see and learn more about this game.

I don't know what your talking about. The site updates within the actual week famitsu usually shows up (as of late, it didn't need famitsu before to update) and in fact has updated in the later hours of the day. It updates usually between 5:00 and 7:00 PM PST or at least it has the past 3 times its updated. The famitsu leaks happen in the early mornings is what your talking about and the site can update just fine without having to go to famitsu. Not to say it will happen today as the Thread starter is thinking (severaly doubting it) but it can happen as it has happened in the past. Something just needs to trigger it like a con/event/ or in the case of the more recent, beta testing initiating.

The beta sign up coinsided with the FFXIII release which had the PS3 beta code. They had to launch the beta registration around than because of it. It just took us by surprise because people assumed it meant beta sign up would start with Japanese only players and they would have to pay to get in (Buy FFXIII). But like I said already, they can update it whenever they want, they have simply chosen to release info in famitsu usually the week of the update and it just happens to get 'leaked' on the net before the update when the actual mag would come out after in real life if it followed publication dates.

Do FFXI players tend to be in on all the big FFXIV scoops?

True. However, if system specs were included in a larger, more informative, update then it would be welcomed. -and your comment was unnecessarily trollish.

Hm, does anyone want to take a stab at figuring out how long the period of time is between when they figure out what Famitsu will get to run, and how long they update that info to the site? I'm wondering if we're getting info that was decided on weeks in advance, and if they're only picking things that they know are set deep in stone (which at this point may not be very much). None of their updates seem to strongly suggest what their plans are, mostly stuff that's surely already been completed.

Basically I'm wondering what the gap is between what we're learning about and what they're actually working on.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

when it comes to stuff by SE.. though i do love them... i have little expectations to them 1. sticking to a time frame and 2. providing much information at all heavily in advance to any of their new games...

I'm sorry, I worded that way wrong. Not a player, someone who is working with/for FFXI.

Is it just pure speculation, or do you have evidence of coming updates, like from a dream or fortune cookie?

The problem with this thread is that there is a '!' where there should have been a '?' in the subject title.

It'd be a bit daft of them not to tell us something.

Unless there's a big announcement for XI, of course. But I doubt it.

This title was very misleading and I agree with the person above, that it should have had a "?" instead of a "!". Please don't make me get excited over nothing to back it up except a feeling in your gut, unless your agent Gibbs lmao.

It's necessary. If you can't see past the "no information is bad, much information is good!" way of thinking it might not appear that way to you, but that can't be helped. You'll just have to live with it. Things aren't black and white.

Also, is it just me, or is somebody karmabombing every single post in every single thread since last night?
