When I filled out my beta app, it asked some questions pertaining to PS3. But I've heard that was the app for the PC only. Is that true? If SE does another signup for PS3 only, will I have to fill out another app? I read that any duplicate apps will be automatically thrown out.

I'm not sure if there was the option when you signed up, but in the very first wave of sign ups it asked which systems you had, PC and PS3. They were check boxes, not radios, so I clicked both of them. I'm not sure how it is now or if that actually means I signed up for the PS3 beta, it just asked what systems I had and then which I would be most likely playing the game on.

If I remember right there was a question about if you wanted to try the beta for PC or PS3, I might be wrong.
I just remembered it because I think I checked one where it asked if I wanted to play on PS3 or PC, and I took PS3 but I might be wrong?

There were checkboxes for both PC and PS3 on the app iirc. That one app will be used for the PC beta, and should be used for the PS3 beta when it starts.

I think this is correct, it only had check boxes for "what systems do you own?" So I checked PC and PS3. Does that indeed mean I just signed up for the PS3 beta as well? Some clarity on SE's part would be nice, but then again they've never offered it before, so why should they start now?

It sounds like the PS3 beta will start in Japan first, using the campaign codes, then expand to the rest of the world. I doubt they'll make you reapply.

there were two questions that make this confusing.

One was a "what system do you own."

And the other was a "what do you intend to use"

In the end I don't know if you'll have to fill out another application when the ps3 signup comes. this is trouble because your app gets thrown out if you send multiples.

A lot of people were having trouble making a clear internet connection and their submit button wasn't working so they were afraid they were sending multiple signups ( I'm one of those )

Windows Beta only. The checkboxes were merely for statistical purposes, to get an idea of the group of people applying and what they have access to.

This was the impression I got, as well.

Me as well. What I understand is the application was only for the PC. There will be another application for the PS3 in the US. Why the gathered the data i don't really know. Maybe they will specifically email those who showed interest in the PS3 beta to let them know? Knowing SEs track record for emails regarding FFXIV I'd doubt it would actually work, at best it would come a week late.

It says this right before you sign up... geesh!

While the reasoning behind this is blatantly obvious and understandable, I think they should have taken DXDiag submissions instead of using checkbox categories.

People do have multiple systems with different hardware setups but because I was only allowed to submit one systems specs, I just gave them my laptop specs.

If you clicked the PS3 box only on the windows beta application thinking it was to sighn up for the PS3 beta then you're mistaken. Doing that doesn't mean that you sighned up for the PS3 beta so you'll have to fill out the real PS3 beta application when it comes out, don't worry about the multiple applications because it definately wouldn't be an automatic rejection for only two.
