just a quick question why would SE ask if u ran a community game based web site want its url in order for u to sign in cause i tried to hit enter to sign up to beta with out putting that info in cause i dont run one and it wanted that information or wouldnt let me sign up. so in the end had to click i had web site and just used my old guilds one from FFXI. IF you dont want leaks why ask for this info even if you dont run one.

I agree with NDA terms. To point they dont want certian things leaked out. i seen someone say something about its a privlage for NA and UA well it should be cause it was NA/EU that gave FFXI it biggest boost in memberships/ not its asian market unless u count the endless RMT's.

How about getting on SE to finish the offical site. 4 months and there are still parts not in last update still blank or up comming. even some sort of clue as to when they may start beta tests would be nice. or even when they would be starting to send out emails if this is suppose to be longer test would atleast like to have some idea that we will not have to wait til dec 2010 to get this in store if so just say so so we are not all left hanging on a date. Be honest on a release date for something after all SE expects us to be honest on keeping their NDA.

give a little expect alot doesnt fly anymore. An honest ETA frame is not alot to ask for for the god knows how many people sitting on their emails waiting for something to come.

I think it's a ploy by Square Enix to get as many FFXIV fansite addresses as possible so that they can monitor them closely. I have a odd feeling they don't believe or don't care if you say you run the thing, they just want all the information so they can monitor as many as possible. That's my "guess" anyways, it seems like the only logical explanation, because it would be fixed by now if it wasn't working as intended. I guess they figure the people who do run the fansites will eventually enter theirs in if it's less known and they'll be able to keep a check on the lesser ones as well, and not just the big ones. One way or another I think it's just a giant fishing net Square Enix is using to catch all the potential sites that could leak information on Beta so they can monitor them.

As far as the website goes, it would be nice to have a little more information, and some information concerning when BETA might begin would be nice, but they aren't going to add every single detail of the game to the site for some time, I wouldn't expect them to. It's an ongoing kind of thing.

I just wish a better flow of updates were being produced, such as 1 thing every Friday or something. They wouldn't have to give everything away either, just even a new picture a day or at least something more because right now it's just torture getting only some updates every couple months or so.

Yes, I assumed it was so that they could monitor closely for the non disclosure.
Did you lose faith?
Yes, I lost faith in the powers that be.
But in doing so I came across the will to disagree.
And I gave up. Yes, I gave up, and then I gave in.

Thank god I stopped playing MMOs.

I agree with the OP I been checking my email more than I normally would to see if i got an invite..I think they should give a date they will be sent so people are not going refresh crazy. I also agree with updating the info every friday... how long have we been waiting ?? it's been really discouraging to check every day and come back with nothing! I mean come on.. how fricken long do we have to wait for information?

Indeed, it's understandable that beta testers are blocked by the NDA to tell anyone they got into beta and/or post a screenshot of the beta email because they'd get pressured by friends to leak stuff to them but it would really be best for Square Enix themselves to say when the beta emails are sent out by putting a notice on their website when it's updated or something. Also, those that don't get into the beta should atleast have the right to know the exact day the beta starts so they can put a time estimate on when the final product will arrive.

As for official website updates i don't think there's a whole lot that Square Enix will show us on the website about the game because they're notorious for forcing the players to figure out every little detail about the game. I think that the only info we'll get from the official website is the description of all the classes along with the weapon types each use, maybe some armor type details, a couple trailers, bestiary, a little about the world with details on city states/continents and there might be a few pleasent surprises in there like indrotucing new races and maybe a couple more classes. Taking that into consideration i think we'll continue seeing the monthly official website updates up until the NDA gets lifted, so don't expect anything more than to be **** teased by Square Enix. I'm fine with that though because i can wait until open beta if i don't get into the closed one.

It was a trick question.

since there was not a "I don't run a community based website" option. You were supposed to bug the beta application in the text entry box. This was to weed out the players that want to just play a free trial and those who accually want to help the game progress. =P

What do you mean by bug the application? Also, ever since signing up for the Beta I've become paranoid about the application not actually working or going through for whatever reason. Is there anyway that I can check that my application was actually submitted? i.e. did we get an email confirming the submission?
