Hopeing for greater gear detailFollow

I remember when I first played FFXI (was my first third person MMO) I was disappointing when rings, earrings, cloaks, and necklaces were not shown when equipped. Later on I played WoW, and even they didn't show rings (but they did cloaks so I was content ^^). So with the graphic power the crystal engine has, here's hoping we finally see ALL our equipment!

I'm hoping that there will be more awesome gear that has magical effects to them. A sword that has added fire-effect should burn. In FFXI this was only for GM's http://files.samhart.net/screenies/maior/GM/Sti050501215731a.jpg

I'm also hoping buffs will be visible, like in previous Final Fantasy games.

Well I'd be content with the cloak and belts. With toggle options for helm and cloak, cause let's face it, sometimes they're just f'ing ugly. lol.

The armor in ffxiv is going to look amazing, why would you want to hide it with a cloak... Besides, Shields, Bows, and any other 2-handed weapon will be on your back. Seeing a bunch of people in cloaks would make me feel like i'm playing an European or N.A. mmorpg, (Thanks for the offer but i'll have to pass.) As for rings, earring and such being visible i welcome it with open arms.

I tend to like the look of cloaks. Other people have suggested that cloaks have the option to toggle visibility. Considering cloaks in real life are pretty detrimental in combat, what I'd like to see is magically imbued cloaks that you can wear on "any part" of your body (i.e., visible or invisible).

That way I could wear a wicked cool scarf or something and it would actually make sense.

Hey now, the only thing wrong with NA and Euro games is that they aren't Japanese, it's not that they're terrible, they just aren't as good.

I would like the helms, cloaks, belts, etc...

However, what I would enjoy more is some actual variety to the armor. Great, i just got an incredibly rare drop from an incredibly rare mob....and its the same looking leather armor I had at lvl 1...except now its blue. Don't do that to us SE.

Different armor should look...different! Imagine that! That's all I want.

I like the idea of wearing cloaks differently. I would wear mine like boba fett; just on one side.

And the world would be awesomer.

I'd like being able to trigger cloak visibility on and off, as well as elemental weapons "glowing" with their element.

Like in D&D Online, you have the option to show or hide your cloak. The blade of your Flame Sword is sheathed in flames, your Lightning Sword is crackling electricity, your Acid/Venom Sword is dripping green liquid. Players should also have the option to turn off this effect in their Graphics Options to lower lag.

Scabbards might also be cool. When walking/running around, your sword is sheathed in the scabbard hanging at your waist or strapped to your back. Once you go into battle mode, you unsheathe your weapon. But I'm guessing that's pushing it.

That's basically a given. They already showed the Bow on the archers back during the gameplay footage at gamescon!

**** that's right. I didn't even realize it mainly b/c I just remember a clumsy Elvaan female running around holding the bow, but yeah, she did put it on her back towards the middle

Yeah, showing your bow was one thing I was always asking for in XI. When Sundi said "that would probably be very difficult to do" I just gave up all hope.

I hope they put sheaths in. Yah, granted the germany alpha build didn't show them, but it was an alpha build. SE doesn't have to worry about limitations this time around, it all about implementing and they would be the first to incorporate sheaths in an mmo. Its going to be lame, playing a samurai type class again and not seeing their sheath, it has been used as a defensive tool and/or weapon. And it would just be so cool to see them with one hand on the sheath and the other on the handle, as the pull out the blade.

now your talking about changeing the limits of the sam weapon from 2 handed to 1 so if that were the case why not drop the sheth and go for 2 swords. do double TP and dmg. use your head think about that one before u speak. sheth you can have but the sam sword has to remain 2 handed with 2 hands on.

effects of weapons would be cool feature different effects would give some distiction between each persons toon. biggest thing i hate in FFXI was running around as a lvl 60 with hot gear and seeing a lvl 10 looking the same way. SE has had a few years lets hope they have had time to draw up some gear that doesnt look the same every 20 lvls.

crafter when makeing a +1 or +2 armour or weapon if this is what is gonna be happening would have a glow arura to it for being a + crafted item.

just a little something to give the gear that different feel to it from everything else.

Maybe you should take some of your own advice. There is no SAM in FFXIV. Just like there is no warrior, no paladin, no dragoon, no ranger...etc... I wish people would stop referring to them as such.

The only announced "classes" so far are:
-Archer
-Lancer
-Gladiator
-Marauder
-Pugilist

We know there will be "mages" of sorts, called Thaumaturges is. But don't go on about how white mage this, or black mage that, or blue mage this....because there aren't any. I'm just sick of people talking about whether or not the "dragoon" will get a wyvern, or whether or not the "warrior" can dual wield.

There is no dragoon, there is no warrior!!! Garrrr!!!!

I thought that ffxi had great detail for its time. I also believe this game should follow suit about armor detail; this time showing that cloaks wrinkle/flow. I hope that we get more of the same.

Using 1 hand to draw a sword or katana from its sheath does not turn it into a one handed weapon. I'd love to see you draw one with your weapon side hand on the hilt as well as your cross-body hand. Not only would you look rediculous, but you'd also have to readjust the grip of both hands to effect your first strike. Edged weapons are carried weak side. You can't properly grip and draw with your weak hand.

I just want options that would allow users to show or hide the helmet, cloak, accessories, and special effects like glowing weapon or whatever if all those are included in the game. Sometimes the glow can be annoying, sometimes helmets can be really ugly, and all that sometimes I just want them not showing it. On the other hand, they can be cool to look too. So option to show/hide would be great for me.

With head armor and capes, I think the player should be allow to decide if they show or not(and to make that apply to everyone who see's the character.)

I'd rather do without the glow effects altogether.
