As the title suggests, do you guys think that the lack of any news could be the quiet before the storm?

Not likely, no.

Just for clarification, I bot, sell gil, buy gil, MPK, party naked through the dunes, power level, play as a Ranger, quit when they nerf it and complain, play as a Beastmaster, quit when then nerf it and complain, make posts for and against RMT, monopolize NMs, create elitist groups, run casinos, steal gil, hack accounts, and stare at you awkwardly with my left eye.

More like quiet before the light breeze. The storm is months away.

I'm thinking we will be hearign a lot more about FFXIV after 13 is released.

Even though 13 and 14 couldn't be more different in terms of game play. You don't want to hype the game thats 11 months away before you release the one thats less than 2.

I expect more info and maybe even closed beta invites to start in april, give FF13 a good month, then whet everyones appetite with 14 news.

I agree the big news is quite awhile away. From previous history there are minor updates once a month. We got beta invites last month as a christmas present so i don't expect anything for a little bit.

Think it will still be quiet for 11 months sadly.

Hm. Well, you're right.
This months breaks the monthly pattern that had been starting to establish.
It also bucks the current trend of Closed Betas starting a month after applications are opened.
Not to mention that dengeki interview, there was precious little new information.

It could mean alot of things.
It's possible, as folks said, they might be trying to keep a low profile for the sake of FFXIII. Vanafest is at the end of February, not only might they have their hands full, but they might be holding off Beta to avoid getting scooped by leaks right before their big PR event. It could also mean production hit a perfectly normal snag and the PR department froze like a deer in the headlights.

Or, they might update the website 30 seconds after I post this. /shrug
There's just no way to know. But I don't think one month of media lull is too indicative of anything.

#9TheShadowWalker, Posted: Jan 25 2010 at 6:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Let's all be as negative as possible. That will make things better. I'll suppose more people will start getting picked for the beta within a month and we'll see the game released at the beginning of the summer.

Vanafest at the end of February should have something substantial. Everyone will probably just ***** and complain about it not being enough, but there will be some words about it at least.

Even if FF13 isn't out yet, what's wrong with letting fans get a little excited about the next game? Lack of info for too long is only going to get people to lose interest.

Of course it has. You have already started a thread that got deleted because your full of BS. If the Beta had started on Saturday there would have been a leak by now. I don't know about anyone else, but if it had started I wouldn't be spending too much time on the forum trying to make people believe, I'd just be playing away. All in all you fail. Now shoo.
