I wont play a game where micro-transactions are required for playing the content. I can however live with micro-transaction for extra nonessential stuff, like a pet or some useless furniture for your Mog house or the like.

The DDO game is sort of unusual micro-transactions. The 100% free account gives you basic access to the game, most of the classes & races but you don't have access to some quest chains. But if you go with the regular $14.99/month account, you have access to everything. There is a third option in between the two which I don't understand why anyone would take.

One of the unusual elements I found was that people can purchases player passes. If you have someone on your team that has a free account, you can get them into a premium content dungeons.

Not a great fan of the above design, but it doesn't seem as evil as other micro-transaction games that I witnesses. At least I don't see "gold seller" spam in the chat channels or email.

I hope the brain-trust behind FFXIV will keep far away from micro-transactions & find a way to stop botting and gil sellers.
We are the BLU. Lower your shields and power down your weapons. You will be assimilated. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile

I'm in favor of mt OR subscription, never the twain shall meet.

And the whole STO debacle of release, then expand within weeks, that's just rude.
I am Going to ****.
I'm cool with it.
All my friends will be there.

I play STO and to clear it up the races that are offered for transaction are two races that are not normally (as far as the storyline for this game) federation races. And so in order to play them as federation you can buy them. I would rather them do this kind of thing as unlockable like they did the klingon side gameplay but then I'm not them and the free credits we got for preorders cover those races. But I do hope SE stays with being its own game and not a cookie cutter.

If FFXIV (or FFXI...) added the Kelb race at an extra cost I wouldn't hesitate to buy it! ^..^

Though games that have a monthly fee shouldn't make you pay for every little thing, that's just my opinion though it should be either or not both.
