Mobile app Follow

Hey guys,
So I've been reading these forums for a long time now, but officially this is my first post! Good times... But anyway what do you guys think about a mobile app for this game? Such as a way to buy and sell things on the AH from your iPhone or Android device (android especially). Being able to water your garden in your mog house from your phone would be huge! Instead of having to log in, hope you left your character in a town somewhere, run back and forth from your mog house to the AH shuffling around inventory to put things up for auction, you could do it all in a matter of seconds from your phone. Simple tasks would actually be simple, less wasted time and much more friendly to that casual player the industry has to appeal to now.

So I'm pretty sure WoW already has something like this and I think there might have been something mentioned in the latest interview about the mobile market as well. I think the industry is moving more this way anyway, so SE needs to jump on board!

Lemme know what you think! Sorry about bad grammer or anything like that, posting from my phone while at work... So yeah

I think this is a cool idea. I'm not sure why you specifically want android over iphone considering there are far more iphone users than android users (maybe it's because you have already android phone, as do I).

One way this might work is with VNC viewer for cell phones. Both the iphone and android phones have a vnc viewer application but I don't know how well it works (I haven't tried it). I doubt that it will be responsive enough to actually do combat remotely, but for putting things in the AH or checking on your garden, it seems possible.

Other than that, it might be useful to have an auction house app, or skill chain chart or maps for a cell phone, that way someone playing on a PS3 or Xbox 360 can use their cell phone as a reference while playing.

Probably because WinMo sucks. Symbian should probably be mentioned too, since it is on the most cell phones worldwide.

I'm hoping that because this game is going to be more for casual players, there won't be things that require you to log into FFXIV every day or at least those things will be very optional and not a major part of the game (raising a chocobo uggg). This will lessen the need for being able to do stuff from your cell phone.

I would prefer a game where you don't feel like you're obligated to take care of stuff while you are away from your computer/video game system, that sounds more like work than a game to me.

Blizzard is implementing a similar service into WoW. It will be a "premium" service (meaning you have to pay for the option to use it to list auctions) as an extension to the existing Armory system. It's raising some interesting debate. On one side are the people who see it as a useful convenience, and on the other side of the coin are people who feel it will create an inappropriate "economic" advantage for those who have the technology (and the time) to be messing around with the AH when they're not around a PC with the client installed.

My personal opinion is that it's a handy feature, and it's another income source for savvy developers. You can't really argue that it gives people an unfair advantage any more than you can argue that shut-ins on income assistance should have their playtime restricted because they have more time to play and therefore are at an unfair advantage.

At the end of the day, however, it's too early in the process to be thinking about that. External auction access from mobile devices (or even secondary applets that you can run from a PC without needing the full client installed) is something the devs could look at a year or two into the game. Right now I'd prefer they focus their attention on getting the basic functionality of the game up and running. Extras are extra and if they have extra time to work on them at this point, they're doing something wrong.
