I don't think they are afraid of anything, its a PR stunt IMO, you say to someone there is a secret all of a sudden people start talking about what it could be.

It's like those announcement sites with countdowns only to announce that a announcement is due to be announced on a specific date. :Z

I'm gonna give it a go.

NOTE FOR MODERATORS/PIKKO: I made up the following text exclusively by myself from pure imagination. It is in no way connected to Elmers previous post of the Vanafest trailer, and so should NOT be deleted or edited by Pikko and/or affiliates of Pikko.

Trailer begins…
Scene 1: Zoom in on a tavern, camera pans around in the room. No music is playing, adventurers are talking loudly to each other. Camera zooms in on a corner, where a young Hyur adventurer (the one previously seen in other trailers) stands at a desk trying to pick a guild-leve. A Roegadin stands at the opposite side of the desk. The adventurer looks at a card depicting a tornado, and suddenly it begins glowing, and he is beemed away.

Scene 2: When the adventurer reappears, he is in the sky looking down at the land from above. You can see grassy fields, forests and rivers (this was previously shown in another trailer). He drops to the ground and phews that he made it. But he only rests for a second and an evil Marlboro appears trying to kill him. At the moment it attacks our hero adventurer is saved by a protecting magical field, put up by a helping Lalafell adventurer…

(this part fades in my memory, but basically three or so adventurers fight the Marlboro in an epic battle ending with the Hyur adventurer shooting a flaming arrow into the mouth of the monster)…

Scene 3: Before dying, the Marlboro grabs our hero adventurer by its tentacles and is about to eat him. In the last second, however, he is swept away by an airship and finds himself in the middle of an epic air-fight (reminiscent of Star Wars). Lots of small airships (seen in previous trailers) are attacking a huge enemy airship. Suddenly a big dragon appears (it might be that well-known FF dragon, forgot his name, Bahamut?) and attacks the huge airship ferociously. The airship crashes and the dragon sits victoriously on top of it. The small airships turn to magical dust and disappears and our friend, the adventurer drops toward the ground.

Scene 4: As he nearly hits the ground he is beemed away/wakes up (not clear), and is suddenly back at the tavern, where he still hasn’t picked a guild-leve card. He finally picks one depicting a Marlboro and heads of with his adventurer friends. One of them says (in English), something along the line of “Now we gonna go kick ****”.
…end of trailer.

You got that mostly correct, missing a few of the more detailed sections that I can't exactly remember, and these points:

-His fire arrow is conjured by the Lalafell mage, in an Enspell fashion.

-Everything is spoken in English, with british accents being favored.

-The Miqo'te at the end exclaims, "Let's give our bard something to sing about." (Bard maybe confirmed?)

Disclaimer: Not that I remembered this from Elmer's actual post. I probably dreamt all this, see. Yeah, that's the ticket.

The people of ezora (sp) Summoned the arcane (bahamut) to stop the advances of the techno city state invading them from the north!

It all makes sense now.

There is no way that the nations could win against such superiority, so they summon the avatars / Espers / GFs / Edilons / what have you to stop them.

Then something happens :P

Seems like Elmers write up is dotted around the net if you know where to look.

I saw Elmer's post very early in the morning and this is how I remember it:

Trailer begins…
Scene 1: Zoom in on a bar, camera zooms around the room, drunk adventurers everywhere engaging in extreme debauchery.Camera zooms in on a young Hyur man drinking an apple-tini while he watches a Roegadin plays with Pokemon cards. The adventurer looks at a card depicting a tomato. Suddenly the card glows and he is beamed away.

Scene 2: The Hyur finds himself in a field and figures he had too many apple-tinis. Suddenly an evil Marlboro man attacks him. He smacks him with his whip but luckily a small child comes and lectures them both of the dangers of tobacco. The Marlboro man is not impressed and proceeds to shower them both with chew and menthol cigarettes. The Hyur gains his composure and decided to use his toe as a weapon. But whats this? the small child imbues his toe with a magical shoe and together they defeat the Marlboro man.

Scene 3: Unfortunately they didn't account for the Marlboro man's secret weapon: 2nd hand smoke. Just as they are about to choke to death the Hyur is beamed away and is suddenly back in the tavern, still playing pokemon. He decides to never to drink more than 20 apple-tini's in one night again. Finally he chooses a card and says something along the lines ("I choose....Primape!")

I'm pretty sure that's verbatim what Elmer wrote.

I suddenly want to catch them all in FFXIV. I hope that's how the alpha goes.

That I may or may not be a part of.

I hope that they give us some information before the alpha, that you may or may not be a part of, starts. They got to give us (possibly) non-alpha testers some love.
