So they said at VanaFest that notifications would start going out as soon as yesterday, with launch the 11th. I'm guessing if anyone had received one yet there would be a post about it, so I started one preemptively. If you hear anything post here, of course without violating the NDA.

posts of being selected for beta are not allowed on this site.

however, on other sites people have posted about receiving emails that they got in.

This sounds like a clever trap

Oh sorry, didn't realize just saying you got in was violating. Kindly disregard/delete.

Just one big question: Are the notification emails still going out after the first day the invites went out? I'd like to know if they are still sending them for the first wave or the second wave.

invites will slowly be filtered out to the community in the next 4-6 months, at the end of which time a small BIG open beta will be held most likely.

The semantics used stated that the invites "start" going out on the 1st. It leaves the possibility open that the first set of invites could still be going out in staggered form, though we have no real way of knowing for sure. Nor do we know how soon thereafter the next large wave of invites will be.

All the invites I've ever heard of for this first round were received within a 10-15 minute time frame early yesterday morning (between ~6:50 and ~7:05 AM CST). I'd say if you didn't get in now, you're going to have to wait until the beta for a new round of invites.

This leads me to another question. What are the chances of me even getting in? I applied when the site for the beta applications went up, and this was before I knew about the Square-Enix ID needing to be linked to the PlayOnline ID. I had linked my POL and SE IDs the day before VanaFest when I learned about the feature.

Would this end up shutting me out of the community beta?

If so, that is going to be a ******** :(

Edit: I also may have accidentally submitted the application twice during the beta application site's launch, 'cause it was getting REALLY hammered. I am concerned that this may invalidate my application.

Submitting twice should not be an issue. I accidentally did the same myself because I couldn't remember if I had sent one in, and you get a message stating that they already have an application on file for that email or something to that regard. If anything, they'll be on the lookout for grossly repeated applications from alternate emails or whatever, anyway.

Your odds of getting in at some point are probably good, as word is that SE wants to get everyone who applied in at some point. Now, that could mean you get in a couple weeks, or 1 week before the game's release. There's no controlling it. But the chances of getting in right now are slim to none.

Wait, what?

You didn't need to link your POL ID to your SE ID to get into the beta.

Err yeah, this also. I think POL ID's were a voluntary add if you said that you were still playing FFXI in the survey. Can't remember exactly, though.

I want to say I saw something saying if you apply twice they would disreguard both apps. -.- It's been awhile since I app-ed I could be wrong.

they did say this...but really proving it would be another story...I think this was more so some customers didn't get the idea of making 20 e-mails and accounts just to apply 20 times.

Ifyou hit submit with the same info multiple times because it kept timing out, it did not throw out your application.

It means if you purposely try and submit multiple applications with different email accounts or SE accounts, you would not be considered.

In that case, I may be effectively screwed. I thought my original application had been deep sixed because of the technical glitches during the beta application site launch, so I opened a second SE ID account to apply again. Oh well. :(

If I don't get in, it's no major loss, I suppose.
